Hi guys. I had a massive puncture on my back tyre Friday on my way home. Long story short, managed to get the car to Minty's Jan Smuts on Saturday and after sitting there for about 2 hours, I drove out with two new tyres fitted to the front and the old front tyres moved to the back. I only clicked now that I never got my old undamaged back tyre back.
I phoned them now and the guy said ... sowweeee...already sent to recycling plant. This is a god damn fcking undamaged Michelin tyre that they sent to a recycling plant without my permission. Now he tells me that there is a sign up that apparently says all old tyres will be kept by them unless expressly asked by the customer to be returned to them. I told him I never saw this sign (only sign I saw was that customers not allowed in balancing bay). Why did the sales person not ask me what they must do with the old tyre? It would have taken him 5 seconds to do so. He then tells me there is a law that says they are forbidden to ask customers this? Is this sh*t for real?????
I told him I want my tyre BACK!!!!! He said the best he can do is when he gets another tyre (most likely from another customer that does not realize they need to expressly ask for their old tyre back) then he will contact me.
Is this really normal practice?
I realize that I should have perhaps had the sense to ask for it back, but it did not even cross my mind
WHAT THE HELL!!!
