You gotta admit though, they're doing a good job convincing Africans they're doing good work.

China coming in and building infrastructure themselves rather than giving it as money to corrupt African politicians is a masterstroke.

Africans in whatever country have their opinions of China improved, and China's propped up construction sector has projects.

For the last few years, the Chinese government are even attempting to fix their 1 child policy, which resulted in a female shortage, by incentivising Chinese men to start families with locals.

it depends where you go, really. there's been a backlash recently. from the same comment in that COVID thread:
fwiw, that's also causing a backlash in isolated places because they're not very nuanced at doing it - I recently flew into Lusaka and when you leave the airport, you ride past the new Chinese style airport being built right next to it and the billboards are literally all in Chinese for miles as you go into town.

Now that's interesting. The Chinese really that blatant about it.

I wonder if the US is even bothering to counter any of this.

Remember when Marx hated blacks and Mexicans.
Elaborate though, this is not something I've heard of.
Marx viewed Child labour as a product of Capitalism. Marx saw capitalists as entities that thrived on the exploitation of labour. Child labour being apart of this.

If you look at Industrial Age England, where Marx spent much of his time, his experiences of how the Industrial Revolution led to the exploitation of labour influenced his writings and philosophy extensively.

Consequently Marx was one of the foremost critics of child labour.

Let's not forget why the national guard was there, lest we lose sight of the real issues ...
As an over-the-top show of force in a blatant attempt at political theatre but was then immediately discarded a day after the inauguration?

You're right, let's not lose sight on what's really happening.

As opposed to the underwhelming show of force and humiliation a few days earlier?

Which was also the fault of the DC Mayor, a Democrat. The police were literally denied back up 6 times according to the now-former DC Police Chief.
DC Police presence was also purposefully kept light at the request of Mayor Bowser, a Democrat.

It's almost like this was all orchestrated to allow for the worst possible outcome to happen. Democrats, allowing riots to happen since March 2020™.

Orchestrated by whom? The republicans and democrats got together to create the worst situation for who?

And what are we arguing here? That the mayor sucks for the lack of force? That he sucks because there was TOO much force? i am losing sight of what we are actually upset with here?

So you felt that the national guard was not needed?

There we go again.

Too cowardly to say what you actually believe.

Now suggesting that the Democrats are responsible for the riot. Another common Qanon myth.

Doing great.

You are a joke.

Are you angry at the police when they arrest a criminal? You can be angry for how the police are treated but you cannot be angry at the reason for the police having to be there to arrest someone.

If you are so for the national guard, you should have condemned the acts that drew the national guard out. A waste of resources, time, energy and exposed everyone to the risk of the corona virus, all so people could live out a fantasy.

Would your mind change if the abuse and harassment of those of Asian decent outside of China was still happening now and had never stopped?

As mentioned before Trump even started saying anything China virus the world already knew Wuhan China is in the midst of a crises and a virus originated there is moving around the world.

Xenophobic idiots prevailed.

Neither Trump or the GOP was the cause of people being racist xenophobes, racist xenophobes who has little to no understanding of viral infections where.
