Tesla's biggest rival in big Uber deal

Uber Technologies will team up with BYD to put 100,000 electric vehicles onto the ride-hailing company’s platform, in a major deal between American and Chinese businesses that notably excludes the US.

Under the multiyear partnership, the two companies will offer drivers lower vehicle pricing and financing.

I had a Uber driver in London who picked me up in a Tesla last year.

Asked him, was it worth getting a Tesla over his previous car (Toyota Camry). He said now that he has the Tesla and pays to charge it, not for fuel. He's making on average 30% more money every month. Including that the lease on the Tesla cost less than the Camry due to rebates but primarily due to not having to put fuel.

So I asked him but does the range not affect him? He said nope, no issues - primarily due to that his job is around the city but also with the superchargers he doesn't have to wait too long to recharge if he has to.

I know its the season where its popular to be on instragram hating EV's so everyone who wants to be cool is voicing their expert opinion on how EVs are terrible, but definitely in the taxi/ride-hailing industry i think its going to work very very well.

Yup, already updated the Official BYD thread.

Lets see. Soon EVs will have to pay road tax and it will be interesting to compare what he will get for his car when he sells it
