Hi all.
Is it possible for me to book an Uber ride for another person, using my mobile uber app?
I will be in a totally different province. Need to book a trip for someone in another location.

I have created account already.
Payment will be from my credit card.

Just want to make sure the uber driver does not try to locate my position via GPS and comes to fetch me instead.

There are no contact details on the Uber website so I am asking here.
Thanks

Yes just set the pick up location where the other person is going to be

You are able to move the pointer on the app to select a custom pickup location and that will be all you need in your case.
You are also able to share the trip via whatsapp, sms, email etc to the person who will be taking the ride so that they can also see where the driver is.

Call the driver to let them know who to look out for, as the request shows ur picture on the drivers app

What? My uber doesn't have a pic of me. Your app has a pic of the driver. The driver has no idea who you are besides your name. Just give the passenger the car's plate and driver name.

Is thi sfor real?
I tried when it was in Cape Town - kept on say "Car is occupied" or something like that. There's only 1 car, and trips are limited to 5km. Good luck actually getting a ride :).

oh man! Was in CapeTown lastweek...I had a not-so-nice experience with uber ... what was supposed to be a trip from Waterfront to CenturyCity - turned out to be another experience on its own!

James- He picked me up at the Waterfront, and immediately he couldn't start the car. He didn't know how to drive. For a distance of 2km, the car switched off at every speed hump and traffic light. At the traffic circle, he didn't give way to oncoming traffic. He was too scared to stop & almost bumped into another car that was already in the circle...hit the breaks & car switched off in the middle of the traffic circle. Started the car again and tried to drive while the car was in 3rd gear and it kept switching off. I asked him if he can drive and he just ignored me and kept trying to get the car going at 3rd gear. I told him to put the car in 1st gear and eventually he drove. On 2 x occasions he almost knocked down pedestrians who were already in the pedestrian crossing. The last straw came when he changed lanes without checking his mirror and blind spots and almost caused a car accident with the car that was driving alongside his . Eventually I jumped out of the car at the traffic light (by Audi) as he was about to go onto the highway with me. All this time he didn't say a word. After jumping out of the car, I asked him 2 cancel the trip and he didn't cancel because I could see on my uber map that he was still clocking mileage as if I was still inside his car!

The funniest part was each time he changed gears, he had to look at the gearstick & the car veered off the road! crazy! if he changed without looking - the car went into the wrong gear :(

Unlucky - The drivers I've had have always been good.

worst that has happened to me is that the driver took a wrong turn which added like 15kms to the journey - but I complained to Uber and was refunded money for the driver's mistake.

You should get hold of Uber and complain...

You should get hold of Uber and complain...

exactly this;

you should get a email as a receipt and you can then rate your driver;

add that comment and youll get refunded your cash;

the one time the driver didnt find where I was and I had to walk to him;
uber gave the driver quite a talking to,

they dont take nonsense like that with them;
