Uber starts going electric in South Africa

Uber will launch its first electric vehicle-based service in South Africa over the next few months.

Uber Package — previously called Uber Connect — allows users to book same-day pickup and delivery of a package within a single geographical area.
 
I love the initiative, but judging by how base stations for mobile networks are absolutely devasted with thieves and syndicates going after the batteries... I can only imagine how long this will last till the articles start rolling out with the same problem.
 
SA really doesn't need anymore scooters and tuk tuks. This is not an 8th world country for farks sakes.

The general service received from Uber is so bad, that this new service also will follow the same path. I deleted my Uber account and just use my own vehicle.
 
Will they be safe from the criminals who will hijack their bikes and your packages?
