They did claim 100Mb/s (looks more like 86Mb/s over 10km in congested Silicon Valley test)

Any idea when Scoop or Miro will have in stock,pending ICASA testing ??

Overseas pricing seems slightly more expensive then existing prices

The technology enables real outdoor TCP/IP speeds of 150+ Mbps and consists of

The AirMax TDMA protocol was designed with speed and scalability in mind.

exponentially in performance as more clients are added and cause collisions and
retransmissions. Ubiquiti's AirMax technology solves these problems through the
use of a hardware accelerated TDMA protocol consisting of a smart polling
coordinator with smart scheduling and native VOIP packet detection. The result
is a network that can scale to hundreds of clients per basestation while
maintaining low latency, high throughput, and uninterrupted voice quality.

Along with this next-generation TDMA protocol implementation, Ubiquiti has
introduced a MIMO antenna technology portfolio featuring carrier-class
performance with return loss, cross-pol isolation, gain, electrical downtilt,
and beam width characteristics typically found in only the highest quality of
cellular basestation antennas. The antennas have been designed and field tested
to ensure optimized throughput performance while using both the AirMax protocol
and 2x2 MIMO radio AirMax hardware.

Ubiquiti has also introduced several AirMax based radio products that allow for
powerful and flexible deployment options. The BaseStation platform called The
Rocket consists of a rugged, hi-power, wide operating temperature, 802.11n based
2x2 outdoor device which was designed to instantly mate to any of Ubiquiti's
AirMax Antennas. For the station side, Ubiquiti has released the next-generation
version of their well-received NanoStation. The new product called NanoStation M
is a compact 2x2 MIMO indoor/outdoor CPE capable of 150+ Mbps TCP/IP throughput
and can link distances up to 15km. Additionally, Ubiquiti offers the flexible
Bullet M radio which can instantly pair to any outdoor antenna to provide link
distances beyond 30km and throughput greater than 100Mbps TCP/IP.

I asked the guys at Scoop about these products last week.

They're mum about it, but I suspect that big dish mounted on the roof of Scoop's Cape Town facility one of the Airmax products.

DO NOT TAKE THIS AS GOSPEL. As I said "I suspect".

You suspect wrong...

It is a dual feed dish but it is not an Airmax unit. I guess you will just have to ask Scoop if you want to know what it is for...

Miro distribution are receiving their AirMAx stock this week.

Contact them on 086 123 MIRO to pre-order your stock and avoid disappointment.

Thanks Evan its going to be interesting to see how they perform
as their are mixed feelings/results on the Ubiquiti Airmax Forums.
Still in Release Candidate version of Software

Stock is in short supply world wide - most of the problems short be sorted out in AirOS5.1
According the Forums, lots of complaints of the Airmax not connecting to existing 802.11a/b/g equipment.
(that should be working in AirOS 5.1 version)

Recommended to connect Airmax CPE (Airmax MIMO Nanostation) to Airmax Access Point (Rocket M)

Make sure you have upgraded your Airmax device to the latest firmware versions

Long hauls links have been tested:
10 Km test link at 85 Mb/s
90 km link in France French website translated into English

Spend some time testing the Ubiquiti Airmax 802.11n Rocket M5 & Nanostation M5 Customer Premise Equipment with 16dB integrated antennae

Installed iperf on my Linux box running as the server
# iperf -s -P 10

Downloaded JPerf on my laptop connected to the Laptop - Nanostation <++++ Wireless ++++> Rocket M5 - Linux box and ran 10 parallel streams and the combined bandwidth varied from 83-95Mb/s - ping rates not more than 16ms under load - perfect for voip

They have been tests done on a 80Km at 25 Mb/s , total cost R6k for both sides exclu solar panels and tower installations.
Not bad for such low cost equipment.

We put the latest beta FW on both rockets on this link and while doing an Iperf test for 10 minutes each time we could get an average of 25Mb/s accross the link while it peaked sometimes to 30Mb/s.
We were using Auto Ack for this and Airmax turned off.

Now to test it over some free space and not in the workshop, running on a 100Mb/s switch

Was having some fun today with some quick tests with the new Airmax:
Downloaded 4.2Gb file from Apache server on Bridged Wireless Network

Check DU Meter
Check latency
Check Download rate of 6.6MB/s
Configuration: Notebook - Nanostation M5 -(===)-wireless Rocket M5 - Linux box
Distance: 10 meters
