I'm looking for this specific Unifi switch: https://scoop.co.za/ubiquiti-8-port-gigabit-poe-passthrough-switch-us-8.html

Scoop has one in stock in Joburg but they don't do shipping.

Uniterm doesn't even list this model.

Anywhere else I can try? I've searched the internet and come up short.

I can get it off Amazon slightly cheaper (shipped) but would prefer to get it locally.

They sort of do shipping:

https://scoop.co.za/information/more-information/delivery-service/

Bit of a mission, but you can organise delivery if you want.

Why US-8 at first place? It is essentially a dumb switch with some pass-through VLAN. Except the one pass through PoE port, all other 8-port switches will do exactly the same.

I like their range of products and I'm already using the Unifi controller software and need something to manage VLANs with.

Yes. I actually emailed both Scoop and Uniterm this morning, neither of them have stock and will be quicker and cheaper for me to get it off Amazon.

Sure you're looking at the right product:

Code:
Cape Town Branch Stock
0

Durban Branch Stock
0

Johannesburg Branch Stock
0

Total Available Stock
0

An what about Miro? Should I check stock?

I looked there but looked to me like you have to be a dealer with them.

You do not manage VLANs at the switch. It is a dumb switch. I wrote it clearly in my previous post. It does only VLAN pass-through which is managed at Unify AP from one side and USG on the other.

Unify software is trying to hide this fact from you. It will work exactly the same with any other VLAN-aware dumb switch like TP-Link SG108 (without 'E'). Such hardware costs only R400. For R200 more you have a managed switch SG108E.

If you want a managed switch from Ubiquiti, get EdgeSwitch. Unify switches are overpriced, do not offer any real value.

Yes sorry I forgot to mention I'll be creating the VLAN through pfsense. Only need it VLAN aware and would like to manage as much as possible though the unifi controller.

Your advice is noted though.

So you do, except that you do not manage Unify switches on the Controller, so what switches you use is irrelevant. :)

Huh? How else would you do it? That's kind of the point of the entire Unifi range of products.

Get it, pay 5-times more for Unify switches, you will find yourself. :)

Looks like it should do what I need it to, don’t expect it to do more. So if there is something specific that you are aware of I would like to know.

Why do you need the switch to do anything fancy? My home network is connected via a random gigabit non-PoE switch. The three UniFi APs use the included PoE injector for power. I have a USG and Cloud Key connected too. Everything enjoys the full UniFi experience no problem.

Need something VLAN aware.

Many modern 8-port switches in the price range R400 are already VLAN aware. Look around.

It seems to be Ubiquiti advertising drivel, as OP do not accept arguments.

You're still not telling me anything useful. Is there something besides the price that is technically wrong with the unit, that information would be useful.

I tried many times, but you don't listen. So lets reverse roles, so you can show in your marketing drivel what is in Ubiquiti US-8 (circa R1600) better than in ordinary Gigabit 8-port switch you can get for R400. Many of them are VLAN aware, as I wrote before.
