Good day people,
I have Ubiquity AirOS equipment installed in wireless bridge mode at my home by a local WISP who's now gone on holiday.
My link broke down on 21/12/2011
I am unable to ping my remote router or the UB2. I guess UB2 is at the ADSL side.
My router IP is 192.168.1.1 and is DHCP. I do not want UB's to be DHCP provider.
Ubiquity1 IP: 192.168.1.10 (UB1) set to static IP.
Ubiquity2 IP: 192.168.1.20 (UB2) set to static IP.
Subnet 255.255.255.0 for clients and UB's.
I reserved IP's on the router for my remote PCs/laptops as well us for the Ubiquity equipment.
I have direct line of sight, a distance of about 7km. After initial install the WISP told me that the signal is extremely good. I can only connect to UB1 (192.168.1.10) by changing giving my PC a static IP but not to UB2 (192.168.1.20).
When I previously had the same problem just over 4 days ago the Wisp told me he rebooted the equipment. However, I've only been able to reboot UB1 as I can't connect to UB2.
Would I have to drive to UB2's site (my router) and reboot from that side as well ?
Is it very easy (yes I know the term is relative) to setup my own link ? I am currently paying the WISP R400 p/month just to use their equipment. I've seen kits going for upwards of R2100.
Background info:
I use my own ADSL router and Telkom line and pay a WISP to relay my ADSL wirelessly. I only rent their equipment and nothing else.
I use my own ADSL router & ADSL line to relay my ADSL wirelessly to my house which is several km's outside ADSL coverage. Being Friday 23/12/2011 everyone has left for the next two weeks. This means no internet for me (frustrating), and my WISP doesn't answer their (cell)phones. They're probably thinking that their customers can go screw themselves, wait until 04/01/2012. I've been experiencing the exact same problem for the 3rd time, each time the wisp "fixed" it in my abscense.
Thank you people.
