I always look forward to a new Ubuntu distro release (check my sig! :D).

But I will bet you a million Zimbabwe dollars that for the next 2-3 months after Lucid is released, there will be posts on the Ubuntu and various other forums complaining about how rubbish it is. Same happened with Karmic, and probably with previous releases as well.

I think I look forward to TheeMahn's release of the latest Ultimate Edition more than the vanilla Ubuntu, but like both anyway!. :)

LTS releases are the best releases, the ones in between are buggy.

Ubuntu 10.04 will be released on 29 April 2010.....it's only 2 more weeks.

Cos if you install the beta now, you will have to do it all over again for the final release.

A very positive review of Ubuntu 10.04 Beta 1. ;)

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/03/19/lucid_lynx_review/

I installed the first Lucid Lynx beta and everything just worked right out of the box - all my hardware was supported, including my NVidia graphics card, and even my iPhone showed up in Nautilus thanks to the latest version of libgpod.

Beyond the outstanding hardware support, Lucid Lynx is already - even as a beta - by far the most fun I've had with Linux in a long time.

I think that only recently happened with 9.10. 9.04 and before were all stable and popular releases, with only minior niggles with color scheme

Any news on a front end for Grub 2?

Grub 2 seriously obfuscated the boot menus; Grub 1 allowed you to edit a single ini-type file. Now there are multiple files which have to be edited, numbered correctly and compiled. Frankly, I'm not interested in learning a new syntax so that I can configure my boot menu.

Also, my laptop webcam shows upside down on 9.10. I hope it's fixed in Lucid.

I am sure you could remove Grub2 and revert to grub legacy somehow?

Um. Can you upgrade from the live disc? I was under the impression that you could only upgrade from the alternate...

1 day left, and I can hardly contain my excitement :)
