So is the internet connection sharing working now?

POst a bit more details about your vpn setup but don't post usernam/password & public IP addresses. things like vpn server/os used by company etc.

I will be trying the internet sharing later, first thing tommorow (currently playing battle field 3 on ps3 with some mates). its a windows server 2003 (ISA 2003) box i"m trying to connect to, in ubuntu i go to network manager create a vpn, take the default options, put the vpn address, my username and password, nothing in NT domain, thats it...I've also try'd putting the domain name in and still I could'nt connect. this is the actual message "The VPN connection failed because the vpn service failed to start'.

just to confirm, we have reinstalled Ubuntu 11.10 on another laptop at work and it came up with the same vpn issue, unable to connect. though the same vpn connection works with windows 7.
