A University of the Free State (UFS) student has unwittingly opened up a big debate on social media after a video of him cleaning up after protesters went viral.

In the video taken on Friday and posted on Facebook by Ruan Bentley, third-year banking and investment management student Eckhard Binding picks up litter that is thrown from a rubbish bin by protesters dressed in EFF T-shirts. As soon as Binding puts it back in the bin, the protesters throw it back onto the ground, and he then picks it up again.

By Tuesday, the original video had been viewed more than 1.5 million times.

While many felt Binding's actions were justified, others argued that he was undermining the context of the protest, which was a call for the insourcing of cleaning staff at the University of the Free State.

There is no hope for SA with these hordes of savages without shame or self-respect.
SA has become a zoo of thieving predators, leeches and scavengers.
Get your degrees and emigrate pale skin people.
Vote with your feet and leave.

Why do universities even have political student representatives ?

They rally up all their mad supporters to cause mayhem.

It did work to show how the lively hood of workers is not important to an organisation like Afriforum their goal is to polarize down racial lines.
All it showed me is that he received money for his studies due to the fact that he refused to be intimidated by the unmitigated "anger" these EFF hooligans show! The joke is definitely on the EFF! One "white boy" has a free ride thanks to them! Ohhhhh the irony...
