Russia's handling of Skripal affair shows 'propaganda machine is not working'

https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/skripal-poisoning-russia-spies-1.4833212?cmp=rss

The drip-drip-drip of revelations about the alleged hit men of Salisbury can't end soon enough for the Kremlin.
Ever since the British government identified Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov as the suspects in the March poisoning of Sergei and Yulia Skripal, the Russian government and its state TV messengers have been scrambling to find counter-narratives to disparage and cast doubt on the investigation.

Russian activist hospitalized: History shows crossing Kremlin can be a health hazard

https://www.cbc.ca/news/thenational/national-today-newsletter-russia-poisoning-naming-rights-1.4820007

Russia's passion for poison

It took just two hours for Pyotr Verzilov to go from full health to the intensive care unit of a Moscow hospital last night.

The 30-year-old Russian-Canadian political activist first started to feel ill, lost his vision, then the ability to talk or walk, all before the ambulance arrived.

His friends say that doctors have yet to provide a medical diagnosis, but they believe they know the cause — poison.

What makes you think that 40 Russians haven't read an article promoting tourism in the UK, applied for passports all the same day and just got consecutive passport numbers?

It's a perfectly reasonable explanation. /s

An investigative journalism website has published what it says is the real identity of one of the Russian intelligence officers suspected of the Salisbury nerve agent poisoning.

The Bellingcat group claims the man who was named as Ruslan Boshirov is actually Colonel Anatoliy Chepiga.
Edit: I don't normally delve into 3rd party investigative sources, but the Bellingcat story is quite extraordinary in its thoroughness, and the surprising results uncovered: https://www.bellingcat.com/news/uk-and-europe/2018/09/26/skripal-suspect-boshirov-identified-gru-colonel-anatoliy-chepiga/

In December 2014, Colonel Chepiga was awarded Russia’s highest state award, Hero of the Russian Federation. This award is bestowed personally by the President of Russia “as recognition of services to the state and the people of Russia involving a heroic deed”.

After interviewing Boshirov in person now Russia will have to interview Boshirov and Chepiga by side to disprove this latest investigation as fake news. If they can't then it must be the same person

They'll claim they have no idea who Chepiga is.

Not possible to deny him if he won Russia's highest state award. They made a is a major gaffe showing the other(same) guy on state television with a different name

Ironically that's exactly what the Bellingcat story says! Chepiga is/was so deep undercover that no recent photos of him could be found anywhere, a bit weird for a Hero of the Russian Federation...

Bellingcat :ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:

Jesus, you've gone to the very bottom of the barrel yet again. Stick to Snopes and WaPo for a smidgen of credibility. You might as well post 4chan

Bellingcat is good. Very thorough work. You should check out their investigations into the downing of flight MH-17.

Also brought to light that American weapons are used in Yemen by die Saudis, and a US strike in Syria on a civilian target that the Pentagon denied initially.
