UK government backs Israel’s bombardment of Gaza

Minister says Israel has ‘legitimate right to defend itself’ as Gaza death tolls hits 217, including 63 children

The British government has given its strongest statement yet in support of Israel's bombardment of Gaza, saying the country has a "legitimate right to defend itself".

Speaking in the House of Commons on Wednesday Middle East minister James Cleverly made only a brief mention of making sure "all actions are proportionate" and avoiding civilian casualties.

He focused condemnation of "acts of terrorism by Hamas" and said Israel was reacting to provocation by Hamas.

"The UK unequivocally condemns the firing of rockets at Jerusalem and other locations within Israel," Mr Cleverly said.

Totally agreed with the UK on this.

The world should realize, this is a war. Civilians are not spared in a war and civilian deaths will always be unavoidable.

You don't want them near the border. I was thinking in terms of that enlarged harbour as a destination. Hell, I'm sure Israel will even crowd-fund another fertilizer ship as a gift. Hamas will feel right at home with the big-bang and all.

Except that by technicality you can’t be at war with people whom you oppress nor can an disproportionate attack be construed as defence.

This is matters of basic international law.. something many including the US have continued to ignore.. much like the Zionist jews whom claim god gave the land yet.. I remember the Torah saying something about not till the messiah comes. But who reads the small text hey. Who am I tell people about their religion.. of the abuse thereof

Is it oppression or a systematic approach to suppress Arab hostility and potential mass suicide attacks?
What would be an acceptable response to a barrage of rockets fired randomly into Israel?

People forget the Arab army invaded Jerusalem in 636 forced the Christians out and stamped their authority on false pretenses. Arab land grab.

There was never a Palestinian state with clearly defined borders nor was there a race of Palestinian people.
