One thing I don't get about the English is why so many can't talk english properly  .

They can't pronounce words right:

rain is wain.
with is wif.
ing is ink

Surely the teacher would point that out to them and make them correct their speech.

I just find it strange.

Yeah when all else fails blame the African...moron!

That's where all the shiite in the world started from... by own admission. Aids, diseases, life via "evolution", fraud at government level, barbarism. Want to expand the list? Take another look at Africa and do not be to shy to admit you are part and parcel of it Angelo. I read many of your posts and can clearly see where you come from. Africa! :D

By the way I wonder if you know all the morons are from Africa too! :D

It's called a regional accent, English would be extremely boring if it weren't for this ... take the SA proclivity for calling traffic lights, robots ... and those wonderful SA terms "Just now ..." and "Now, now" both of which can mean any time between now and the turn of the next millenium.

English has appropriated (stolen) words from other languages for centuries, it's part of what makes English grow.

I hang around on a car-related web forum in the UK, and the level of English language usage there is absolutely appalling. It's actually worse than here, believe it or not.

Do you have any idea who you are conversing with ... apart from A.N. Other who may or may not live in the UK.

Taught English in the UK for a year and found that verbally the kids were okay (pronouciation excluded) but in writing they were truly appalling. Problem was that many were just bumped up each year regardless of the standard of their work, giving a student a failing grade is too tough for teachers as the paper work that has to be filled in and the flak that you have to take is overwhelming. Awful to say it but the system is just allowing students to go from one grade to the next.

Had a grade 8 pupil that couldn't read, he was dyslexic but there he was in the English class creating absolute havoc but merrily went onto grade 9. Bear in mind this was a tough school, don't think it happens in the better ones.
