How many of you have noticed that the amount of time available to answer a call has shrunk to a pitiful few seconds?
It's as if mobile networks want you to break the land speed record, sprinting across your house from one room to the next, and dive to catch your phone without a moment to spare.

As if the frenetic stressed out pace of the modern world wasn't bad enough?

This is all too ridiculous for me. If I'm in the middle of pouring a drink or making food, and there's not enough time to wash my hands, calmly walk over to the other end of the house and answer my phone in a dignified manner then something is wrong.

I'm not going to walk around with a bluetooth headset permanently glued to my head either.

This is a scam by mobile networks. They know if they cut my callers off after a few seconds, I'll most likely have to spend more money with them to return the call.

Well if you also find this ridiculous I suggest you complain to your mobile operator. Anything less than 60 second ringtime is just way too sneaky.

Go ahead and complain now. Threaten to leave. It worked when I was with CellC. They managed to customize my ring delay. Telkom mobile's website says the maximum ring delay is 30 seconds. What a joke. They're not going to get away with that nonsense with me.

Don't set my phone to go to voicemail. Doesn't even go to voicemail if my phone is off. If the call is important they will call back or I will return the call as soon as I can. In meetings my phone is set to Do not disturb and sends an SMS that I will call back.
