After app. 20 years with MTN I have had enough of their lousy service and didn't renew my contract. For some weeks I used MTN pre-paid - then I went to Vodacom in order to have my number ported from MTN to Vodacom.

Two days ago I received the following MTM SMS "Your request to port to Vodacom was received by your network and has been approved. Please visit your nearest Vodacom approved outlet".

This I did today:Vodacom Hermanus. They had a look at their system and talked to someone on the phone. "You have to wait until 14 January, only then you may use Vodacom. Please don't blame us, it's MTN".

I'm furious - who is to blame for that? What's going on? I would be very grateful for some advice.

I dont see any reason why you cant port now if MTN have approved it. PM me the number you want to port please. Want to see on the MNP portal what is happening there.

What was the issue?

The person that was assisting him when he started the process did not complete the transaction. They sumitted the port reqeust and it was approved by MTN, and they RICA'd the prepaid starter pack, but did not flag the starter pack as a port with his number. He bought a new starter pack yesterday, we cancelled the previous port reqeust, resubmiited and once MTN approved it once again we did the RICA on our side and flagged the sim properly as a port and linked his MTN number to it. His number was therefore pulled over to Vodacom last night and he confirmed this morning to me via email that he is up and running with his ex MTN number on Vodacom.
