Unacceptable "service"

I'm FED UP!

This company is a ripoff! I just spent half an hour on the phone with one of their "helpdesk" agents, and was I helped? Hell no! Instead, I was told "there's nothing much that can be done" - and that's a direct quote!

This is absolutely unbelievable! That a company can care SO little about their CUSTOMERS (yeh! the people that pay your salaries!!) that they couldn't be BOTHERED to offer them assistance for a product we are PAYING for! It's an easy concept really: I give you money, you give me an internet connection! You should try it sometime, it's all the rage in Europe!

Ugh.

For starters, I had to wait like 15 minutes before the phone was answered by one of FOUR agents. People! You have 10000 customers! Four people are just not going to cut it!!

Another gem that was thrown my way:

Me: "My connection is dead. There's NOTHING. It doesn't want to connect"
Agent: "Have you been capped?"
Me: "Yes"
Agent: "Well, that's why you don't have a connection"
Me: "But I'm supposed to have a 64k connection"
Agent: "A 64k limited connection"
Me: "So 'limited' means dead?"
Agent:"Yes"
Me: *laughs histerically*

Wtf?!

I cannot believe the INCOMPETANCE and the total arrogance of this company!

Sorry guys, I just wanted to rant and vent and tell this to all the people here:

If you are not on iBurst, make sure it stays that way!! It's USELESS! DON'T get it!!!

If you have ever seen inside wbs' offices... hardly supprising. Last time i was there(waited in reception for 1 hour and became the doorman), place looked like a flea market. Thank heavens all that fancy looking equipment is behind protective glass.

This communication sounds very familiar to me, it could have been done also with one of the Telscum teccies...

They're all pathetic... the whole bunch of them. "Service" doesn't exist in this country!

I'm waiting for Shaun Green to phone me today and he better have a REEEEALLY good explanation why my connection is so vrot!

Thats classic (couldn't stop laughing when I read your post) you should contact the writer of Dilbert and ask him to use that dialogue in one of his comic strips.
I also asked a helpdesk rep about what the 64k connection meant and he seemed confused and didn't know how the hell to answer the question.
Guys if you want to have some fun phone the helpdesk and drill one of the helpdesk agents about what the 64k limit means. It confuses the fukc out of them. :D

And this is the right time for you guys to cancel your iBurst and move to ADSL ... just a suggestion! I did, and now I am a happy telkom customer :) and I am proud of my connection. I even run few servers at home, just for home use, but everything works like magic!

The only problem with ADSL is that once you're capped, you're international link is DEAD. At least with iBurst (when it works) you can still browse international.

*shrug* Ugh, I don't know. It's just a big, ugly mess. All I want is to have a decent internet connection. Is that so much to ask for? Apparently... yes. :(

PS: I'm still waiting for Shaun to phone... I don't think the guy gave him the message...

reading this thread, apparently browsing after cap is "optional", so the international after cap is good idea, but not always works :)

besides that if you have 30GB per month cap, chances are you will not be capped ever, so I don't think it is a big deal.

Maybe WBS should just learn from the big boys and advertise the service they offer properly, so that one knows EXACTLY what to expect.
This is from the Vodacom 3G page:
"The 3G service may be affected by:
a: The number of users accessing the 3G network in your cell.
b: Strength of signal and your distance from the nearest antenna.
c: Factors out of our control such as atmospheric conditions."

That pretty much covers almost all of the current WBS gripes

30Gigs?! Dude, if only! It's THREE, not thirty.

3Gigs doesn't even last 2 weeks and I don't do ANY downloading (hard as that might be to believe) - I surf the Net, check emails, use Yahoo (no webcam) and play World of Warcraft (been doing that for about a month now) and it doesn't last. So all these ISPs saying that 3Gigs is enough for a "normal" user, is bollocks!

The fact of the matter is that WBS promises you (and advertises!) a 64k connection after you're capped. NOWHERE in the contract, as far as I know, does it say that you'll be cut off after you're capped. Then I might as well get ADSL. If only I could, I would have jumped ship a long time ago!

Anyway.

I got a call from Shaun yesterday and he told me that it's because the Northcliff tower has too many users on it. There is a Randpark Ridge tower going up in July and that should solve my problem - I can only hope! *prays*

Thanks Shaun - out of that entire messed up company, you are the only person that actually gives a crap about your customers! Well done mate!

Yep, it is 30GB, my advice is to pay more attention to the adverts and you will see that there are loads of options with ADSL and a non-TelkoDemonopoly ISP, I will be getting a 5GB ISP account with HomeDSL192 [ok it's not broadband, but neither has iBurst been for me], and the total monthly cost of a reliable connection from 2005-08-01: R636.05 - that includes everything, whereas I have to shell out R700 per month for 3GB on iBurst and have the unreliability to go with it, not to mention the nazi-style dictatorship stuff that WBS does so well...

Some of us don't have access to ADSL in this country, so what do I do, stay with WBS and put up with all their ****e til Telkom decides to awaken?
