We just had our (512K) ADSL line installed in the office and need to find an ISP. We have a diginet line for critical services and ADSL will only be used for browsing. I don't like the idea of Satellite because of the latency and the effects on it by the weather, but if it is significantly cheaper, I would consider it.

Which ISP (uncapped) would you recommend?

So far I an considering:

Openweb:
Monthly: R1369
Setup Fee: R0
Satellite or Fibre: Satellite & Fibre

WebAfrica:
Monthly: R1539
Setup Fee: R1710
Satellite or Fibre: Fibre

Others you can try are:-

ODS

inX ADSL
http://www.uncapadsl.co.za/uncappedexpress512.html

GamCo
http://www4.gam.co.za/connectivity/adsl_uncapped.php

HyperLink
http://www.hyperlink.co.za/hyperadsl.asp

I'm considering getting ADSL soon and I'm undecided between ODS and OpenWeb as my uncapped unshaped ADSL provider.

Hyperlink and GamCo have some kind of "soft" capping/shaping on their accounts, where they have a 10 days rolling period and 10GB per 10 days. If you go over that 10GB then your bandwidth is halved. So if you're on 512K you'll be cut down to 256K. All the info is on the GamCo website.

But OpenWeb and ODS don't have this "soft" capping/shaping restriction. They are both "TRULY" uncapped.

That can be confirmed, Openweb is part of IS (Internet Solutions) which work via Satellite;)

IS routes traffic over both mediums to get the best latency and result for it's clients.
