Uncapped ADSL - how much can you actually download?

I really wonder what these guys download. Is there so much porn on the web?

Those tables are complete crap. It clearly shows that some users have no throttling applied to them, while others are thottled to ****!

I think a good segment might be Prawn....

But, i also think alot of Anime, TV-Series, Movies, Games and OS Distro's travel over those lines :)

You can actually download quite a bit of Data over a 4mbit line or 10mbit. To utilize it best you have to setup a machine that has connectivity 24/7.... and then addon to the queue the whole time...

I use about 200GB on youtube (in HD) alone, it's my main consumption media these days at home... but I've never cracked more than 400GB in a month.

Throw in dropbox backing up GB of family videos and pictures, it's very easy to get more than 200GB+ with legal activites

I could only download a fraction of that when I was on Afrihost's 4MB uncapped package.

Wow that's a lot of linux apps being downloaded. ;)

Why does Afrihost post these stats? Surely they don't want to encourage heavy downloading. I tend to keep my downloads to weekends and evenings, but if I was on Afrihost and saw that, I would say screw it and go 247.

This article just opened up a can of worms for them.... Hahahahaha Too much sharing perhaps?

How does a 1MB user get to 400GB?

On my line, I average ~7GB/day= 210GB. Even with uploads maxed, I'd struggle to get much more than that

Cost per GB is probably R1.60, with all line charges taken into account. :(

I can fully believe these figures, I managed to DL, 460 GB in 1 month on a Mweb 4Mbps Uncapped shaped acc.

My 1 Meg Axxess line would get me nowhere near those speeds. It's too slow....

Its more like 640k line....768k on a good day...

Or a way to attract new subscribers to Afrihost as most people will think Afrihost equals "free for all downloading".
