A 24-year-old Durban mother, Nolizwi works as a call centre agent and says almost all her money goes towards transport and she has none left by the end of pay-day week.

With a salary of only R4 500, she also has a 5-year-old child to support. She says she has no choice but to budget.

Nolizwi saves R3 000 for her daily taxi commutes, R700 for her child’s transport to crèche and R500 for daycare. This means the young mother is left with only R300 for necessities such as food, toiletries, phone data and more.

She has to grovel to her struggling family members, acquaintances, and even neighbours for food.

Nolizwi says that because she is always seen travelling to and from work, residents who don't know her personally assume she is a con artist when she asks for food.

Everyone got what they voted for. They voted for a government and got one.

Exactly. The got a government. Not the government. Not the government that cared about people. Not the government that cared about inflation and living costs. Not the government that cared about safety and security of its people. Not the government that cares about its private sector and the economy.

Unfortunately, the got a government. A bloated government incapable of leading. A government involved in theft, fraud and corruption right from the top to the bottom. A government that won't hesitate to kill their people.

So, buckle up. Get used to the new developments and find ways to adapt. Unfortunately, realize that struggling, hunger, poverty will unfortunately be a daily occurrence you will need to live with too.

How do you know she voted for the current government in power?
Sure if she changes her vote next time, she will earn more ?

Not that I want to raise and publish stupidity of some, but read my post again. Did I refer to her or everyone? She knows better. We all know better. We all will suffer the same fate. Either adapt or find another way.
