Nothing wrong with that.

I know a white oke (yes race matters in these matters) that is far older & still lives with his folks.

And no he is not a bum or slacker.
That's good. As long as he is not a slacker.

This is really sad to read. I hope she works something out to improve her financial standing. Sometimes in life we need to be our own hero and be able to help and look out for ourselves.

Where is the father of the child? Is the father providing child support in all areas (not just money)?

I wonder what's the reason she can't move closer to work, R1500 to R2000 could suffice to share a place with someone, less stress and some money to save.

Probably Umhlanga. Accommodation is very expensive. Lucky if you can find a tiny 1 bed apartment for R8000

Whether you like to hear it or not, these are signs of a failing economy, if things like Water, Local authority, Transport, Medical, Food, Debt(Housing only), extreme taxes & levies, the basic non luxery things bogs you down, that means the game does not play out well in a society. It maybe that the society are made believe to expect to much from the resources available as well(Promises etc).
Since 1992 very few leaders understand that a society can only be as rich as the resources, intelligence, common sense, foresight, and ability to work with money/resources/population numbers in the basic mix.

We are at a point where salary increases only feed the corrupt monster, and serve no purpose as the monetary system destroys and eat itself from the inside out.........The world is currently wrapped in an Digitally Inspired Abstract form of corruption, that is extremely parasitic and societies start to experience the results in large numbers.

Back to the basics, you cannot possibly bullsh@t yourself at a scale out of this.

It depends on the area; if shared spaces of living are cheap then that might work.

This lady has a sad income problem. She could try talk to her employer, but there is no guarantee that conversation will be fruitful. She could try move to another company that pays better (not sure if call centre agents can see big salary jumps when changing employers). She could change careers, but that is not easy, depending on the new career aspirations.

If the father of the child isn't stepping up, she needs to do something about that. It is sad seeing some women raise their kids on their own while the father of the child isn't supportive in any way, and in some cases, the father is living the "high-roller life" elsewhere.

Even with rising fuel costs we can not afford to move closer to Mr Wobblez’s work.
Sad reality is as fuel goes up everything goes up even accommodation. Doesn’t make sense but that is how the rental agencies/owners increase their income.

You can only share a house/flat so many times before it becomes unlivable.

Yes she isn’t a domestic worker, maybe she thinks working as a call centre agent will afford her the opportunity to beteer her life.. or maybe she is like me and is just feral and suck at domestic work.

Delivering food as a woman.. i know you guys are going to argue but it is dangerous.
When last were your delivery person a woman? Same reason woman are hesitant to become uber drivers

I know it's not ideal for families and relationships but generally if things are this bad only one of you moving closer can work, yes it's much easier when you are younger, I only suggested it looking at the age of the lady.

When I first arrived in Joburg I house shared on for R1000 on a R3500 stipend, I walked to work so the remaining R2500 went a long, traveling would not have worked.

Yes, we don't know her circumstances, there's also a child in the picture so it's safe to assume that she did explore that option and maybe it did not work out.

When I got to KZN I shared a house with about 6-9 other guys, 2/3 per room. Braai'ed potatoes back then.

Our cleaning lady walks for for more than 4kms in the morning to cut transport costs, she uses Rea Vaya instead of Putco and take ages to get home, sometimes I give here a lift but she knocks off earlier so she has to wait for me which is not ideal.

Some time ago our management thought it was a good idea to reduce her days, apparently in a bid to save costs, while loads of money is being spent on contractors we don't really need who do the same job that could be done by permanent staff who are already getting paid.

Thankfully that did not materialize as it was opposed but it showed me just how self centered some people could be when they want to look like good boys to the senior management because the savings were not going to make even a dent looking at all the money that's being wasted.

That sounds hectic, but it's not that bad when you just came there to sleep, weekends can be slightly challenging though, fortunately my guys were not formally employed so they were working most of the time including weekends so there wasn't too much traffic.

Sounds like our "management". Boss wants to put up solar panels to save electricity costs but only 6 people work from business premises, the rest work from home.

Meanwhile warehouse staff, grown men, are crying literally with tears running down their faces because the haven't had increases or bonuses for over 5 years. They're obviously too old to find work elsewhere.
