MTN uncapped throttling fiasco

MTN has angered several of its uncapped fixed-LTE and fixed-5G customers by making two sudden changes to the fair usage policy (FUP) of its MyMTN Home Wi-Fi plans within two months.

The MyMTN Home Wi-Fi plans offer uncapped mobile data on month-to-month or contract packages that support fixed-LTE on the entry-level options and fixed-5G on the mid-level to top-end plans.

Shouldn't unethical CSPs be HEAVILY FINED like they did in Nigeria ?
WHAT is ISPA doing ?

Yeah ICASA need to wake up and stopping taking bribes from these operators. Speeds need to be fixed to the contract on sign up, it is the main reason people sign. Now you sign for something only to have a horrible switcheroo pulled on you after the fact.

I would hope that fundamentally changing the value proposition of a product like this should give the consumer the right to cancel the product with zero penalties to them.

Service not month to month?

Just cancel and leave if you have coverage from another ISP.

Looks like it was changed on both month to month and contract.

month to month is obviously easy to cancel.

Okay, did not think service was on contract.

Cancel and hopefully they collect their "crappy" free to use" router in less than a year, that it took them to collect it from myself. Then a year later, I get a phone call from RAM Couriers, wanting to collect it again. Fortunately I still had the pick-up collection slip, gave them the reference number and told them to follow up on it.

I would hope that fundamentally changing the value proposition of a product like this should give the consumer the right to cancel the product with zero penalties to them.
However, MTN gave this statement:

MTN told customers the changes would assist in making its network experience and service quality better.
Obviously they made the FUP change in the best interests for their customers.

So it's all good.

You can't call a product uncapped if you throttle the crap out of that it's not even usable. Then it's a cap product plain and simple. The A-Holes have been doing its for years and have been taken to account every time. But they don't seem to learn from their greedy mistakes.

Bait-and-switch should be illegally.
Where is ICASA when you need them?
Definitely unethical of MTN.

Does this have anything to do with the Vodacom complaint, where MTN was illegally pooling spectrum? If that "arrangement" was abandoned, it would make sense why MTN can't provide service.

If this is true, there should be an investigation to the entire profits MTN made from that illegal arrangement.

To be clear, it would then entirely be the fault of ICASA, and the ANC for stupid regulations that stifle innovation and technological advancement. But did MTN hand over a brown paper bag? And if so, they should get all the sh** coming their way.
