Unisa - changing of a major

Hi guys,

So a while ago I started studying at Unisa, doing a few modules here and there. Through this time I've learned a lot about my degree and myself, and as such I would like to make a large change in what I'm studying. I'm studying BSc: Applied Maths and CompSci. I stopped studying for a while (for numerous reasons) and started up this semester, but quickly found the maths no longer interesting to me (at all). I would like to drop the maths part and focus more on the CompSci, because there's no scenario I play out in my head where I will use the maths in my future. I have emailed Unisa and tried calling, but both avenues are...disappointing when it comes to providing me with information.

PS: I also haven't touched mathematics since studying it, so I lost a lot of background. I now, well, kind of hate it.

Anyone with similar experiences or perhaps someone on the inside I can contact directly that won't take 6 weeks to answer my query?

Unfortunately, the best thing you can do is go into one of the campuses and ask someone. Prepare yourself to wait in lines and stuff. You can try calling / emailing, but IMO, it's a lost cause.

Something to consider though - if you started after a certain time, the rules have changed. Previously you had up to X amount of years to finish. Now you have to pass a minimum of 4 subjects a year (I think) to carry on.

Actually, no. Life happened and my studies are kinda in limbo right now. Not sure if I'll ever complete it. Funds and Unisa's wonderful student support together with a full-time job, marriage and kids isn't a good combination.
