If you were comparing EFF to ANC RET, I would agree.

Although EFF and "normal" ANC tend to differ a bit.

The EFF does what the ANC would like to but can't due to the results being unknown. When the EFF does whatever is required and the results are positive, it's implemented. Negative gets rejected.

Where do you think the EWC and open borders ideas came from?

The current UNISA VC has been implicated in several controversies around excessive and unnecessary spending. It seems to me that there is too much smoke for there not to be a fire.

There is also this screenshot of a tweet of hers, which, if genuine, is pretty shocking coming from a VC:

What is shocking about it?
Here's the full tweet:

Students were complaining, several months into their first semester, that UNISA had not yet paid over their NSFAS funds, which they needed to buy books etc. The reason for this was that UNISA had failed to renew their contract with the company that used to handle the disbursement of NSFAS funds. The VC's response to these students: emoticons and passing the buck, from a person who earns millions each year to be the leader of the institution. I expect better from a VC.

I think it's a case of someone getting a taste of their own medicine, the tweet she replied to wasn't exactly civil and reasonable, you can expect a meaningful engagement with that kind of tone.

It wasn't civil, insofar as the student basically called her a liar, but it was reasonable. By that stage, a month before the start of first semester exams, UNISA had repeatedly missed their own stated deadlines for disbursing NSFAS funds. VCs are paid millions each year to lead their institutions and that includes acting professionally and not bringing the institution into disrepute. I expect better from a VC than to react to a serious and legitimate complaint with emoticons and buck passing. Compare this response with the way that VCs carried themselves during the Fees Must Fall protests, taking an incredible amount of verbal abuse yet remaining calm and professional.

The meaningful engagement would have been the on time payment of the NSFAS money. Then there would have been no need to engage on Twitter with any kind of tone at all. Do you expect people to bow and scrape in humble tones to people not doing their jobs just because those not doing their jobs are connected?

But, as expected, you will run interference for the ANC no matter how wrong they are. I wonder what beds and fridges the students have?

I have no clue how bank transfers work but my money which has gone through several verification processes is in my account or in the account I owe it to. I seriously doubt NSFAS would be more complicated. In fact. NSFAS seems so uncomplicated that R14M can be paid into a student's account without anyone even batting an eyelid.

I notice you didn't answer the subject and took it away from the atrocious manners of someone paid to ensure the poorest of the poor (Which the ANC purports to support) and turned it into huge demeaning and humiliating exercise with emojis. You stop using emojis at lower to mid management level.

But this woman has more important matters on her mind, like a bed and fridge.

Yeah, I thought as much. If you did you would understand just how out of order that person was to be taking that tone with the VC.

NSFAS is independent from the University, they are an institution with their own management and board and they are the ones who are responsible to make sure that the money that is due to the students is paid, not the Vice Chancellor.

NSFAS is not accountable to the VC or the university, they are accountable to the Minister of Higher Education. If the VC gets involved it is assistance, it's not their job, so if you find yourself frustrated as a student you certainly don't call the person who is helping you a liar and expect her to respond in kind.

The blame for not paying the NSFAS allowance lies squarely on NSFAS, not the VC or anyone. You should at least try to put an effort of understanding how things work before you open your loud, know it all mouth.

To my knowledge:
  • NSFAS pays funds to universities, not directly to students, and universities then disburse these funds to students;
  • other universities have not had the problems that Unisa had in disbursing NSFAS funds to students;
  • the reason for the NSFAS problem at Unisa is that their contract with Intellimali, the service provider they used to disburse NSFAS funds, ended in March of this year, after which they tasked one of their own internal departments to disburse NSFAS funds, a mammoth task for such a large university.

The VC is someone special? If she didn't do her job she should have been fired, never mind had a twitter clown aimed at her.

Which makes her accountable and means she should have been fired if she couldn't find the guilty culprit and fire them on the spot for negligence..

And she is at the top, so the buck stops there. Not at her bed and fridge.

While this is true, the ‘tone’ of the person waiting for the NSFAS money is understandable and the VC is not entitled to any special ‘tone’, certainly not on Twitter of all places.

She on the other side, should have responded professionally, assuming she is a professional.

It is this entitlement which make these fukkers steal as well, believing they are entitled to it.

Your defence of this is laughable at best, but really mostly pathetic.
