Does that mean the new ADSL modems have arrived? Ideally I'd like to pick one up tomorrow.

Afraid not, the new range will only arrive in about 4 weeks time I'm afraid.

i am in the market for one currently, and was planning on going down the W8968 route.

Even though these are only arriving in 4 weeks time, any chance of a preview of the models that will be available.

I'd hate to buy now and then think "if only I'd waited"

There are two new ADSL routers that we'll be getting, the TD-W8970 and the TD-VG3631

The TD-VG3631 has integrated VoIP ports (1 FXO, 2 FXS) which is the first offering of this kind from TP-LINK.

That 8970 really excites me!!

May you give us a ball park figure of what it will cost? I'm guessing around R1100-R1300...

Rough estimate would be that both units will retail at around R850 ea ex VAT (R969 including) ;)

Picked up the N750 yesterday from the reverse auction, thanks Uniterm :)

Got everything setup last night, got the new firmware on. Awesome router, plugged in a powered usb hub to one of the usb ports and was able to connect multiple usb drives, mount all three and also stream to the media player. Average read spead was about 110mbps from the usb which is fine for HD content :)

Again awesome product so far!

It would be worth the wait. And no doubt there will be an introductory special to all MYBB members to get it at landed cost. :whistling:

Having said that, the W8980 looks a bomb too with the dual channel output.

One question though - the W8968 included 3G modem functionality as well via a firmware upgrade. Would it be same for the W8970 as well (not that I use 3G as a backup currently anyway)

MYBB members do qualify for a discount off our products and I'm sure we'll put together a nice MYBB promo when these arrive ;)

The W8980 isn't yet available and no ETA at this point

Technically speaking, all of the TP-LINK routers that have a USB port should be able to support 3G but they don't include 3G support on all of the devices, not sure what the reason is, we've asked but have received vague answers. It is possible that it will support 3G but I cannot confirm that this will be the case until they arrive and we run some tests on the unit. Usually TP-LINK indicate 3G support on devices that actually support 3G.
