I have always wondered why the cops/security don't actively patrol the streets past midnight and search people wandering about? Sure, you will mostly get a lot of p*ssed of people complaining about their liberties but if it means you get to nab the one f*cker that is planning a murder/mugging like this and you get to save a life in the process, then it should be worthwhile?

Yeah our police are indifferent, they only go on minor campaigns when there's pressure or something. I think security companies aren't allowed to search the public, if allowed they could probably do it. But it is the job of the police to do proper beat work. They may not even catch that many criminals as criminals would probably throw weapons away, but the impact would be remarkable as criminals wouldn't feel safe just strolling/driving down the street looking for victims.

This is why it surprised me when someone in the spar attempted kidnapping thread suggested that it has to be some big syndicate dressed as spar employees rather than a lone (or possibly more) employee doing it for a quick buck...
People do crazy things for next to nothing.

That's not a good comparison though.

To steal a cellphone you don't really need anything other then somone to offload the goods on.

A kidnapping is quite complex in that you must have someone else who can deal with ransoms etc You also have to plan.

Our people duties is to give out case nos for insurance purposes. I see them more like barely literate security guards at insurance companies.
