Unlimited international calls at a flat rate

Pricing for the new ‘unlimited calling’ iBTel service starts at R699 per month on a 12-month contract with a mandatory once-off activation fee of R999.

Let's compare that to:

R900 once off purchase of a Omnia 7 from 8ta (or any of the Android devices)
R150 monthly purchase of the 2/1GB data special from 8ta
R109 monthly sub to Skype for their unlimited call plan (http://www.skype.com/intl/en-us/prices/pay-monthly/?intcmp=ch1-loveUmom-main)

==R259 per month for a dedicated mobile international talk machine!
Plus, you could get away with using way less data, Skype barely uses anything.
Oh yeah, and no 12 month contract.

EDIT:
Or, if you wanted to go for a 12 month subscription:
R900 Omnia 7
R1116 Skype unlimited with 15% discount for buying 12 months
R1800 8ta 60/60 GB promo

==R3816
Compare that to iBurst -> R1698 * 12 = R9 387
And you get 10GB a month of data to use for streaming youtube while you listen to foreign relatives waffle on about their cats.

Oh please, not another one - first Neotel, then VOX, MWEB now iBurst - whoopy do...

Get a Cisco VoIP router (R 400, once off - 2 lines, can add existing FNB tel no) and a Rynga account (R 100, every 4 months or as you need it) for unlimited local, 0.46 cents per minute for mobiles and unlimited international landline calls, expect excellent call quality.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps10026/index.html

The above solution will equate to R 58.34 per month. I would suggest you convert your existing 2nd Telkom line to prepaid and cancelling Telkom call more option.

iBurst's product manager must be on drugs, or his PA suffers from dyslexia

When read the title, I figured it was maybe R200 per month without an "activation" fee. For that price you could get uncapped 1mb and Skype unlimited(as indicated in above posts)

But this is in line with most product offerings in SA. Pass the lube please. ;)

I would expect one advantage would be an SA number for incoming calls, I wonder how many concurrent calls the system could handle (i.e. at least one in, one out simultaneously). I would also expect an Iburst modem/device and free bandwidth from them for their price - that should allow some QoS.

Most of the VOIP guys are charging R0.25 per minute for international, so R699 equates to over 2500 minutes per month on one line or just over two hours per week day, every day. Pretty intense if it is one line only with no QoS data connection.

Nice to see some fixed price options filtering in to the market though, good work for trying Iburst, think you missed a bit, but at least it is an attempt. I would like to see more uncapped type call options hitting the market, Telkom how about unlimited local calls...

uhm....www.farcall.co.za.....free...and you can use your free minutes.
you can call landline and some countries even cellphones!!!

At this point in time you can call international cell phones in the following countries:
USA (most networks); Canada; China; Singapore; Hong Kong

Maybe you haven't investigated (like most local providers) the VoIP market. It seem they have just woken and are all trying to compete with Telkom and somehow they believe the Internet stops at South Africa's borders.

What they all seem to lack to understand, 1. client's have access to Google and 2. they (local VoIP suppliers) have minimal pop's and 3. don't come close to provide the functionality or quality compared to any international VoIP provider.

You can obtain any 011, 021, 087 number from numerous Dutch VoIP suppliers and somehow local providers can't provide you with 011, 012 or 021 numbers?

I have mentioned this so many times, all I can say is : WAKE UP
!
