Unlock softlocked line?

Anyone know how to unlock a "softlocked" line. I've found that my connections are very poor. I.e. connection keeps getting dropped, or I only get GPRS where I would normally have super-3G signal. Then finally checked my SMS's to find an SMS that says:

Vodacom Balance Notification. For your information. Mobile phone XXXXXXXXXX Call Balance has now been exceeded. Line is softlocked at R194.10

Now I've been using a Linksys 3G wireless gateway router, so haven't been using the Vodafone Mobile Connect software since the datacard was sitting in the router. I also didn't get the SMS's that were sent to this SIM, otherwise I might well have posted this a bit sooner, since the above one was preceded by two or three other "warnings" like 50% exceeded etc.

Contract is a Vodacom4u and I suspect I just need to top up, but then I signed a debit order, so they can just debit my account.

I've been using out-of-bundle data only and the intention is that I would start buying some prepaid data bundles, but this is my first month and I first wanted to get an idea of what my usage would be.

You would need to contact your SP to have it unlocked... or raise your limit

Yeah, i tried calling them yesterday. Waited for about 20 minutes before giving up.

I don't understand where the limit comes from and since I signed a debit order, there should be no issues with manual "unlocking" or payments. Also, on opening the contract you have to present pay slips, bank statements etc. etc. Now, I'm no Bill Gates, but anyone who looks at my bank statement and pay slip should be able to see pretty clearly that a limit of R194.10 is a bit ridiculous.

At the end of the day, Vodacom are the ones who lose out, since I've just switched over to my MTN SIM and now MTN is making the money that I was so lavishly dishing out to Vodacom...

You will have to contact the network who locked it. They even may charge you a fee.

Right, getting back to the original thread...

My line got unlocked by itself, since the debit order went through yesterday. Also got an SMS (probably something they've set up to be sent when you first payment goes through) with logon details for vodacom4me.co.za where you can create a "query", so I tried getting some response out of that, let's see if it works.

Speaking of phone sp locks.. i got a cellphone, old bouth 2nd hand T28 which worked with vodacom etc till somethng broke on it and we sent it in for repair and now it only works on mtn So no it gathers dust till mobile number portability comes in
