Unlocked iPhone on existing Blackberry contract?

Here's the scenario:

I've currently got a BB contract through VC, which works fine and all. Do you guys reckon it would be possible to get an unlocked iPhone 3G and use my current BB contract sim with that iPhone, without paying crazy data usage fee's? I'm not sure if this is even possible, as I'm sure the whole BB setup with this BIS servers is quite complicated and would know when a user is not using a BB handset. Maybe there is a work-around?

The reason why I'm asking this is that the allotted 250mb pm of data with the new iPhone contracts is ridiculous! What if I want to get the MobileMe service and sync 2 mail accounts with my Mac? I would easily do around 2gigs a month just on mail traffic!

Any thoughts on this? Anyone running a BB sim on a jailbroken iPhone?

Your BB Unlimited Data is only the data between your blackberry phone and your blackberry server. If you stick the simcard into the iPhone - it should work, but you will be charged the R2 per meg.

I dont think you would use as much as 2GB on email. I use about 100MB or so on email a month.

Yeah except the Mail app on the iPhone will be able to handle HTML mails with attachments that you should be able to view on the phone, compared the the text based mail browser found on the BB, which doesn't eat up much in terms of data usage.

A lot of my incoming mail is quite image heavy as I'm a digital graphic designer, so there is quite a bit of backwards and forwards mailing with large attachments.

Thanks for the feedback though, the simcard thing does make sense.
