I think these people make more money selling sims and routers than they do providing internet, that's why the beginning is so amazing and then once everyone has a modem and sim, the service sucks so badly.

Well that doesn't make sense considering the router retails for $400 on Chinese retailers and 400 pound on amazon. I got mine for R1000 and they are now going for R2250.

I also see the rain invoice shows data usage. From the 9th till the 31st I used 1.2TB of data, without really trying.

Ping: 40ms
Download: 2.78Mbps
Upload: 0.01Mbps

Nice , Looks like you and me in the same boat .

Download: 5.7Mbps
Upload: 0.02Mbps

Maximum i was able to get was 141Mbps Down ,
But that's putting the router in front of a window with the blinds open , Can't exactly leave it like that....

That's about the same as I get and I'm running out of things to download and HDD space. There is no fibre in my neighborhood and it had me wondering if this can't be an answer for a small group of people or a small business that won't get fibre in time before their DSL vanishes.

Very easy. You will switch over to VOIP. So you choose your VOIP provider for example freshphone.co.za port your Telkom number to it.

Get this device https://www.compufy.co.za/product/grandstream-sip-ata-1x-wan-1x-fxs and configure the VOIP details on it. Plug this device into the lan port of your 5G router. Plug your phone cord into this device.

Sounds complicated but very simple to setup.

To make the setup run during power cuts you can add this

It's an instant switch over PSU used for CCTV but works really well keeping routers and phones online during power cuts.

So glad 5G is launched.

It will shift a significant group of high usage users across from 4G, relieving the network congestion experienced by other 4G users.

I don't need speeds beyond 10Mbps to watch HD streaming.

The 5G cost is just ridiculous, while its a novelty.

Well its not ridiculous at all try find a product that gives you more than 100mbps download that is actually truly uncapped this product does over 200mbps for me and im using it in a area that is 1.6km out of coverage. Next week i will be taking to another house that is within coverage and see how it fairs maybe 450mbps if all is good

Not really since they use the same network backhaul with 4G, they have throttling in place on us the 4G users now. No matter where i move my device i can't get over 20Mbps
