Would be nice if rain could let us know when they'll actually go live with home 5G. Maybe. Just like losing some patience.

Well rain did publish the maps on a mybb article

So go check that but they not gonna release a product unless it’s working correctly otherwise you all cry when you don’t get your speeds or have issues so hence why they holding back. They are the first people doing this and it’s month to month so patience.

It kinda turned my stomach knowing that it used to be R1000. If I did not know then the current price would not have hurt as much haha

Just so glad I was able to snatch one at R1000 wish I actually placed two orders

My home address shows coverage now on the new updated map. So glad I got it for R1000 because at R3450 I would have just stuck with fibre.

Now to see how the tower performs if more people join which I doubt because the tower is literary surrounded by Openserve Fibre coverage and at R399 for 10/2 pn mweb with free installation I don't think people fork out R3450 once off and R1000 monthly.

Don't want to rub it in but if people used the the console trick to order at R1000 or R2350 when the package did get delivered you could have just left the Rain 5G sim in the packet. It would not activate unless you reach minimum of 80Mbps so you could effectively kept it unactivated until coverage is available and not be billed for it while using the CPE on the normal 4G sim just to boost speeds a bit with carrier aggregation.

@ Cavedog, i have ordered this router as i have coverage at work. My question to you is how far out of the coverage area were you when you ordered the initial package. As my home address is just out of the coverage area. Your assistance is highly appreciated .... Thanks

Starting to look like the only hope left for those of us with shallow pockets is for a Black Friday deal...sad to think it used to be just 1K

The 1k however was an introductory offer and the price of the package has not changed - just the heavily subsidized router is not that subsidized anymore.

Signal is actually traveling. Download speeds won't be affected much you will probably see between 150 - 200Mbps depending on distance probably more. Really depends on the area hills trees ect.

Well a according to the new updated map I'm inside coverage but also only just and I get 400Mbps +

Depends on the area really. You can be out of coverage but almost line of sight of tower and probable get better speeds than someone that is in coverage. Trees, buildings and hills will start to weaken the signal so really depends on area.

I'm fully aware that the 1K was just a subsidized price. I only wish they had kept it at that price to give other locations the same opportunity once the service is available in their area

I suspect they pushed it up to be able to offer a black friday deal. then push it back up to limit the influx of people who would opt for the deal just for the cheap router.

lol that would be really sneaky of them...but I don't suppose they would have been the first to use such tactics if they go that route

Hi Guys, If you do a google search to see what this router actually sells for you would be shocked. Some sites have it at $699 lowest i came across was $350 now factor in shipping and insurance. This price is still reasonable if you really are looking at getting it. Our current exchange rate is R14.88. I stand to be corrected but i believe this router supports carrier combining and is cheaper than buying the latest cellphone with these features. LOL this is just my way of justifying this purchase
