Unlocked the 5G connection today

I just saw it online but still not available at my address in cape town. I also see the device is now a whopping R3450 .

cape town is not active yet for sales, what is hard to understand about that. They even said Durban Cape Town 2020. They have installed the equipment and all that but they not open to allowing people yet till they get it right ie 2020

Thinking about getting Rain's 5G service. I have coverage. Currently on Telkom LTE-A Uncapped, but service is bloody slow at times or even unstable.

Just scared I get the same service after a few months >.<

yeah at that modem price is can be an annoyance if it doesnt work as expected, coverage needs to be 100% even with my being in coverage i had such issues getting the modem in the right position. Literally moving it a few centimeters can mean 200mbps of speed

I thought that too, but then realised one tower was 4G and one was 5G. Its happening at work and at home as well. If I move my router to the one side of the office, I get terrible download but great upload, move it to the other side, and get good downloads and bad uploads

Rain uses 6x6 for 5G buy yourself an antenna and plug it into 2x2 mimo plugs at the back and see what happens

Anything less than 4x4 mimo means the 5G connection will drop. Since the CPE only has 2 ports it means by design it does not have more than 2x2 mimo on external antenna.

5G will not work. If signal is bad it's better to contact Rain 5G VIP and ask for an external unit. I don't know what is the minimum requirement for them to install an external unit though.
