This company cannot decide on whether to sell devices... rent them or go free-to-use I swear to God its run by actual nutcases. For those who signed early and had to foot the full bill for a now outdated device when they could have just gone free-to-use with the new outdoor unit it must leave a sour taste.

A little pissed paid R3500 for mine in November.

Remember, it is now month to month. Perhaps make sure you are on that package and then you can test for another month.
I signed up just before they announced month to month. So not sure how exactly its going to work

Yeah your 4G speeds are really good which is very surprising. The signal stats are equally impressive at -65d the tower is really close and if 5G comes back on that tower the speeds will probably be impressive with those signal stats.

That said you might want to get in touch with Rain and if they won't guarantee that you can walk away later then it's up to you to walk away or not. They should not even be charging you anything if you aren't even getting 5G. Up to you but yeah tower outages is a problem with Rain it seems.
Woke up this morning and 5G seems to be working but only getting about 88mbps download. Also I see the Cell ID changed so not sure if its connecting to a different tower?

Code:
Network Type: NSA
Signal Intensity: LTE (-107 dBm) NR (-96 dBm)
Signal Quality: LTE (-5 dB) NR (7 dB)
RSSI: -77
PLMN: 65573
Cell ID: 27068930
5G MCS: UL (18) DL (0)
5G BLER: 0.00%
5G CQI: 10
5G RANK: 0

Yes looking at the signal stats you lost 4G from the closest tower meaning that tower likely lost power then 5G falls first then after a few hours 4G drops and the tower is completely dead. You went from -65db to 107dB. Different tower much much further away.

I think you just have the worst luck with the tower being down. Definitely a power issue.

Thanks, this gives me lots of hope that the nearest tower will be awesome once 5g is returned to it.

So went to work today , asked someone in live chat how far I am from the 5G rain tower.
Turns out its the tower half a block away.

When you order how long is does it take for delivery ?

Most people were able to get it the next day after ordering it. Not sure if this is true anymore since they used to send out their own technician when you ordered the 5G product.

Then delivered mine the next day and I plugged and played when I got home.

Tower town last week and then up the weekend and down again getting tired of this lack of service.

They use RAM next day by 10:30 for 5G so you will get it next day by 10:30 probably has a cut off off 5pm or so to give drivers enough time to pickup the parcel.

I agree with you. I can only hope they improve their service as I am stuck on their contract :(

They have completely revised their Terms and conditions. The contract is no longer in effect so you don't have to worry about that even if you signed up during the contract term.

Writing is on the wall. Competition is coming. Will take some extraordinary deal to get me off RAIN network. Couldn't be happier at the moment. Little pissed I paid 3.5k for a modem but I suppose it gives me flexibility should I choose to jump ship. Mind you equipment I have is closer to 30k retail.

Yes you have the super expensive ODU so at least you got some decent tech.

I'm lucky to have only paid R1000 but I have the indoor cpe. I'm not sure if I want to swap that for the ODU because it's a killer 5G cpe and 4G router with wifi6

What Signal Intensity and Signal Quality numbers are you guys getting ? What is "good" ?

I was at -75dBm when I first started, then it suddenly dropped to -92 yesterday, then I moved it 10cm right and it become -85, then this morning the same spot is now -92 so I moved it 10cm left and now I'm back at -86 dBm.

Thankfully it's next to a window so I can move it around a bit, would be annoyed if it was on a pole and I was stuck with low signal. This is very confusing, I can literally see the tower, there's nothing in the way.

Okay well if you include the the minus then yes. I'm not sure the correct way to interpret the figures but I always just read the actual value and leave the negative sign in the front.
Lol ikr. It confuses me too
