They have completely revised their Terms and conditions. The contract is no longer in effect so you don't have to worry about that even if you signed up during the contract term.
What does this mean?

So I ordered Rain 5G to use at my shop. It's replacing an ADSL line 20/1Mbps.... The order process was quick and easy and delivery was prompt, like ordered late Friday, delivered early Monday morning. Super impressed with the turn around time if I'm being honest.

The site falls just inside the coverage zone and I'm getting 3-4 bar signal and 300Mbps to local servers. Using a TP-Link archer D2 as an AP and it's working really well.

My only complaint is the 5g signal seems to randomly drop. Well, twice in the space of a couple of hours. I've only been using it onsite for the last 4 hours or so... Does it automatically reconnect to 5g or do I need to restart the router every time this happens? The first time it happened a restart resolved it but this time I'm waiting to see if it auto resolves... currently on 4g...

Quite impressed with rain live chat... Damn, who did I speak to now.... Cassy? Anyway, apparently 2 local towers down, running on battery power/4g apparently. Suspects load shedding although there isn't any load shedding in the area currently....

One tower is roughly 600 metres away, the other 1km..

Does one have to restart these routers to reconnect to 5g?? Or will they automatically connect once towers come online?

It will reconnect once the towers are back online. I have had mine for about a month and it has worked flawlessly except for the past weekend when a tower went down and I was on 4G for about 2-3 days.

I am considering trying this in my area as well to see if I can get rid of my Telkom LTe, which at the best of times, is useless

Well, when this was working, it was pretty awesome! I have Telkom LTE (about 30mbps down 20mbps up), 2 x adsl lines (one 10mb/credit card merchant the other 20mb/vox fatpipe).

Rain was clocking 300+mbps, ODU stuck on a top shelf in the office... Now on 4g it's got progressively worse, from 12mbps to around 4mbps...

Well if the towers are being loadshed there isn't much you can do, I'll give it a go for a month or two and see how it is, at least it is month to month

Thing is I don't believe they are, looking at the load shedding schedules for the areas they in...

Yeah, contracts are a no-no.... month to month is super sweet.. Our adsl only ends, end of March so I'll retract cancellation if this turns out to be a lemon...

Another question if I may. I assume the POE cable is a stock standard Cat cable (5/5e/6)? As I'm not installing outdoors, I've used a stock 10cm long Cat 6 cable to connect POE, instead of the 15metre one bundled with the router. This shouldn't be an issue right?

Stats are alright not wow though. Should be getting over 200Mbps easy. Upload will probably stuggle to break the 15-20Mbps range and upload will likely be via 4G.

Load shedding is killing us... I did some early morning speedtests and touching 400mbps. Got to say, I'm happy with the speeds attained. Although there really isn't need, I might even mount the unit outdoors...

To Coreix London!!

I currently have the indoor unit and my speeds are awesome (always above 200mbps). If i cancel and get it again, I'll probably get the outdoor unit, right?

You need to be careful of just cancelling and then ordering again. Tried the 5G when it was launched, but we did not get the speed we needed, so it was cancelled. When I tried ordering again this month, I was told that I cannot because I already order the 5G in the past. It took some escalation of our issue to their upper management to be able to order the 5G again.

Wow that's stupid. In this day and age, systems still have limitations like that...

I guess you can try your luck with support or something.

The terms state you are allowed 5 x 5G packages per id number. Each 5G sim must be supplied with a unit making it 5x 5G simcards and 5 x 5G CPE's
