You are preaching to the converted here, but lets be honest ... Rain - the weather, and many other factors (ironic I know) will affect 5G speeds. I would hope people on 30Mb will be getting a guaranteed speed if it is being limited from a higher speed.

BTW, on the news article apparently they are saying the video streams will be limited to 480p on Rain's end. Not cool. I am sure they can not force that in a totally fool proof manner, and the question is exactly at what speed do they throttle services like Netflix, Prime, Showmax, etc to force a 480p stream.
Show me.

It would be nice if you were being specific, but assuming you are talking about the throttling ...

Copy and pasted from a post on the story on MyB's main page.

I don't think that is possible unless they limit throughput on specific streaming sites like Netflix, DSTV, Showmax and then even if they do simply switching Cloudflare or a Local VPN will fix that. It would be weird that they cap the entire connection to 30Mbps and then cap certain websites to 2Mbps because that is about what they are going to need to cap it at for Standard definition.\

None the less I will order one and do some testing :)

Also don't believe that for a sec. It doesn't make logical sense to cap it at SD. Plus how the hell would they implement that on every godam streaming site? Someone in their marketing f'd up.

Yeah it will be really hard to cap specific sites and cap the connection at 30Mbps. Nah something fishy here but none the less as I mentioned I'm getting this one too maybe on Thursday so will do a nice comparison Premium vs Standard. I have the indoor router currently so will do some nice tests this coming weekend and revert back with feedback.

I expect you to be able to stream 4K no issues.

Currently with Rain 5G Premium I stream a 80GB .mkv file directly from the internet without buffering so the Premium can handle anything. I want to test Standard at 30Mbps cap to see what it can achieve. :)

Well. Netflix 4K recommended is 25Mbps.

this company unilaterally changes their terms without notice more often than their towers go down i-

It's fine I'm just cancelling outright. Wanted to pay and compare the 2 not freebies but seems they are actively preventing people from signing up by their dodgy terms which now also includes a 10 simcard limit including previous cancelled simcards.

So if you had the service and cancelled before you are out of luck no service for you with Rain ever again unless they make an exception....

Weird that. Wonder what their line of thinking is? On the one hand they trying to grow their customer base and on the other they make nonsensical decisions like this...
