Well, even the current 4G one has I believe 5.

Nope. 5G connects to network ID 65573. Mobile connects to 65538 and fixed lte connects to 66519.

I have one of each and only the 5G sim works with 5G. The 5G sim does not work on their 4G 65538 network.

I mean the number of sim cards you can acquire.

I have a 4G sim as, the off peak unlimited deal, and ordered the 5G, which they didn't have a problem with. Ill cancel the 4G sim once I get the 5G kit though

I cancelled my 5G now. Had to log a case because they removed the cancel button for the service. They want to collect my router but I paid up front for it.

I would rather use my fibre. Rain pissed me off when they said they will not make an exception for me to order another 5G deal so decided to just submit the cancellation.

Weird that. Wonder what their line of thinking is? On the one hand they trying to grow their customer base and on the other they make nonsensical decisions like this...
Its a very strange decision indeed. The only thing I can think of is probably the delivery cost they might be getting after over ten cancellation per customer. Maybe they start running a loss, because they r the ones paying Ram after all. But its still too far a stretch, I would think they would have somehow included delivery as a hidden charge somewhere.

Truly shocking. Are they going to refund the money you paid upfront then? I think Rain really needs to sit down and iron out their processes, everything is starting to feel haphazard.

I'm not giving it back. They can collect it when the money has been been returned.

Hi Guys..
During loadshedding does Rain's signal drop completely, or does it drop to 4G.. i.e. if I get a UPS for my router, will I still have internet access during load shedding? or, will it try to connect to a tower in a unaffected area?

You get 4G and depending on congestion the internet is still usable. It will depend on tower and location so you would need to experience it yourself to make a decision.

@cavedog I tried to sign up on my account for my Dad but could not take out another one was looking at the R699 one for him.

I have only had 3 Sim cards 1 lost and one 4g was the uncapped R250 which i still use and then the 5g which is still active

I dont even want to go down the road of them trying to fix it.

They are comeing to my house on Friday cause Since Feb 3 the service is up and down every other day.

I spent 3 hours moveing the router last night out side on the roof.

Why do you want mutiple?

I wanted to test that one and see how it performs. Then maybe pass it on or use it at the work place. The work still has 4Mbps adsl with no fibre but 5G coverage so wanted to see how well it performs.

You're lucky because you have the option to cancel. Some of us don't have the benefit of fiber :(

I'm disappointed to be honest. I wanted an outdoor unit to help with signal during loadshedding to catch other towers better. They refused. I asked to allow me to order one more 5G service they refused.

I asked them to cancel my 5G service. Cancelled so quick. Feels like they couldn't wait to get rid of me.

It's fine Afrihost given me a very sweet deal to stay on their fibre network and not to switch to Rain 5G after my last post so that is what I will be doing.

Sucks that I will now be stuck on 200Mbps but yeah the iBurst in Rain shows because it's the same people so the same attitude carried over to Rain. According to their terms I will not be able to signup for 5G again with them in the future and my profile and id number is now blocked to future 5G signups. Suits me if that is the attitude of an ISP.

The limit of simcards on one account is most probably to prevent reselling of the services.
As simple as that.
I don't see this as reason enough to limit sim cards. If they were truly worried about reselling of services then the policy would have been better implemented by limiting the number of concurrent active sim cards per person. My understanding is that a cancelled sim is deactivated and hence no service to be resold from that sim.

If a user has cancelled a sim because the current coverage is bad, in the future when that said person needs to test the service again they should be allowed to do so without hurdles. Rain is now basically almost holding people to ransom i.e. even if you getting bad service, continue paying us lest you forfeit being able to sign up again
