Unotelly and Netflix

I get nice HD streaming and dolby digital plus using the windows 8 client, I just have to manually set the bitrate and the initial buffering takes a while. Using unotelly

Hi,

So I just setup unotelly and have registered with Netflix ect - registration went through without a problem using my FNB credit card. I just have two questions with regards to unotelly.

1. When setting up unotelly, they tell you to go to the global page and choose the two closet servers to you - could someone please tell me which are the best two to use?

2. I have changed the primary and secondary DNS on my PC connection, and also in my router settings so that any device on my network can access Netflix ect - are there any drawbacks to doing it this way?

Also is unotelly the recommend service to use? If not what is the best service to use (still in the 8 day trial so can change this service without loosing money). If there is anything else that might be helpful, that will be great too.

Thanks in advance for the help.

See they now have a "Dynamo" DNS listed for Johannesburg. Just remember that they say at least one must be a Dynamo enabled DNS IP address. (will see if I can post the Johannesburg IP when I find it)

So I only setup unoDNS last night and you are meant to get the free 8 day trial - I looked to see if everything was still running and at the top where it tells you the service is running correctly, I get a message saying: unoDNS Setup is OK but your account has expired. even tho it is only meant to expire 2013-03-18 so not too sure what is going on???

Found the answer to this problem somewhere on their website as well. Will try and find the info and post the linky for you. Just give me a while. . . .

saw the jhb one last night
but when I went on this morning it wasnt there anymore?

Just checking - I see Jola posted the the Joburg DNS IP and said nothing that it wasn't working. I am sure he would have said something if it wasn't.

I want to sign up with Unotelly as well. Just waiting for my Roku 3 to arrive :p

I heard the Roku Media Players are good, how is the Mede8tor for streaming purposes?

More specifically, for the Unotelly, Netflix and Huluplus?

Don't know :erm: Maybe someone can post their experiences? That's a media player though, isn't it? Can it stream as well?

It is a Media Player yes. My brother in law got one, but he's not really interested in Streaming TV with it. It seems like a very cool device, but knowing how it works with Unotelly and Netflix and so on is important. Getting live streaming is also something I'm looking at. But that is only for Sport and stuff like that. I don't mind paying. Just want the option.

Took the plunge and tried the unotelly and netflix trials using my WD TV Live, and quite impressed so far. Even the kids are enjoying it. Could this replace me dstv subscription? I reeeeally hope so. 4Mbit DSL mweb uncapped.

I'm looking at the exact same setup but with a different broadband supplier.

Please give further feedback when you can.

Also took the plunge with UnoTelly, and I'm running on Axxess.

Unotelly is actually an awesome service, and I'm loving the fact that I don't have to setup complicated VPNs on my router etc... plug the DNS into my AppleTV and away it went. Its brilliant.

As for the speed issue, I'm actually not noticing any issues with speed, it streams just perfectly (and this is while I am using the internet as well)

**EDIT**

APologies... Line speed is 6Mb

^^ It would help if we knew what your line seed is.

Yeah I am trying to see if I can get the Netflix App to work on Plex - have my HP connected directly to my TV. I would love to get the Netflix app installed on my LG Smart TV, but when I search for the Netflix app, it does not show in the app world because I am in South Africa. I followed the help to change my Smart TV settings to USA, but when I manually change the DNS and go to choose the country, I still only get African countries - no USA ect.

Same obstacle here. One way around is to stream your desktop to your LG TV. Install serviio media server then create a script to initiate a stream using VLC from your desktop to your LG TV. You need to play around with settings etc to adjust stream rates. There is a 'how to' out there.

Have been doing this for 6 months. Works perfectly at least 90% of the time.

because I'm on neflix free trial there is no new movies etc . There is a very limited selection or is it because I'm using ps3 app
