Possible, or she could have been like the GP I went to when I was very recently married. No blood test, no scan, no urine test. Just felt my tummy and told me I was pregnant. He wasn't unprofessional, he was a bloody idiot!

You skipped the pre-wedding diet? :p

Poor and/or uneducated people get treated as inferiors by many people. Sounds like this happened here.

The doctor could have better bedside matter but thats about it.

Is the employee a maid or nanny? - That would explain the doctor preferring to communicate with you.

Obviously your standards are very low.

Were you present to witness this? very often what is was said to heppen in a doctors room, doesnt actually happen?

Calling the person responsible for the account with a diagnosis is understandable, i.e. for diagnosis X there are two treatment options a cheaper method and a longer more expensive way. The longer one will probably give better resolution of said problem but will require more checkups, and cheaper one is well cheaper and probably wont be as effective.

Maybe some doctors should just assume that by sending your employee to them it constitutes best treatment possible with no worries what the bill be, and when you get a bill (which you would probably complain is too high about if treatment was for yourself), you just pay for your employee. Sadly this doesnt happen and most accounts in this situation end up being bad debt.

One of the best doctors I ever knew had terrible bedside manner (no not House). He figured out what was wrong with my daughter when the high priced and oily smooth pediatrician of Fourways could tell us nothing.

Still, bad doctors who malpractice should be reported. Our first Gynecologist when my wife first fell pregnant was like that. She charged us R1000 for expensive blood tests when my wife had an infection. Results came back positive and she never even called us to let us know. First we heard was a month later when we got the Ampath bill and it showed the result. We had sorted the issue separately by that time so she essentially just wasted R1000 of our money for nothing. My cousins wife happened to go to the same women and had the exact same thing happen! All I can say is be careful about what doctor you trust your life with. Also avoid any female Gynae's at fourways life hospital.

+1. Sometimes the old cranky ones are the best doctors.

Sometimes I don't like a doctor/dentist's personality or attitude, so I just go to a different one the next time. But I mostly base my opinion on whether I think they are doing a good job and ignore their personality flaws. It's not like I'm brilliant with people either.

Its universal. Some of the best lawyers I know come across as extremely arrogant, but what they are really doing is very quickly sifting the wheat from the chaff.

Blu I think you suffer from some sort of complex.
The doctor was right in letting you know since you paid the bill.
Drs also joke around, he probably joked about the pregnancy. Telling her she's pregnant then calming her down to say she not, helps break the ice.

Definitely exceedingly poor form on the doctors part. I wouldn't bother reporting it though - the medical counsel has their hands full dealing with proper fck-ups (i.e. operations gone horribly wrong).

Hell no - medical information is highly confidential and should not be shared with employers. Doesn't matter who paid. Just like employer's aren't allowed to ask whether you're HIV positive.

Finally someone with some sense.

The rest of the posters seem to love wallowing in their antiquated beliefs that an employer "owns" his/her employee.

It's still not clear whether you were present during the examination.

It does seem ironic that you are lamenting the doctor for not respecting your employee's privacy, while you are posting her medical details on an internet discussion forum, where a real-life acquaintance of yours could easily piece together your true identity and that of your employee.

Blu was not present. She is going by hearsay.

Although tbh I think she just wanted us to know how generous a Queen she is to her serfs.

How exactly? What details were posted? Read again ;)

If you have no heart for people less fortunate than yourself, don't publicise it so openly.
