For the last few days I have had problems again with both 3G and GPRS. It works fine and operates at maximum speed and then suddenly nothing. After a few reconnects the card crashes. Then a few hours later, at the same spot, everything is OK again.

Last night I wanted to send an urgent email (Midstream Estates). Got connected to 3G at 4 bars without antenna, but had no comms at all. Reconnected with GPRS (with antenna, 3 to 4 bars) and again nothing. Disconnected and reconnected again and got very slow and intermittend comms. Atleast got my letter out.

Then someone sent me a 1.8mb email. It downloaded for ages. I then took my laptop to another part of the house where I know it connects to another tower. Got about 2 bars but then it flew.

Question is if Vodacom is playing mad scientist with the system while getting HSDPA up and running?

I also live in the Centurion (Wierda Park) area. And since about middle of March 2006 I started to experiance 3G & GPRS connectivity problems. During day tiem, the network seems fine. Only have to re-conenct 2 or 3 times durign the whole day.

At night, from about 6PM things change drastically. If my nokia 6680 is on 3G, i am unable to make or receive calls, get "Connection Error" when trying to call.

On my Vodafone Datacard, i am lucky is the connection stays up for more than 10 mins at a time. Trying to reconnect is also painful, maby after the 10th retry it connects ... after 10-20mins (sometiems even 5mins) the connections is unusable AGAIN, then you try patiently to try to reconenct again.

Moving to a diferent area in pretoria, my connection is stable again. In my point proving there is a specific problem in my area. May me and VMS conenct to the same tower.

Now paying over R1000.00 to Vodacom is senceless as i have no service when I need it most.

After numerous calls logged at Vodacom 155 the problem still persists.

I have last night tried a MTN sim in my Vodafone Datacard, and what a pleasure :) 3G works like a charm and no connection problems.

I am going to purchse myself a MTN simcard today, to use in my Vodacom purchased Datacard. What use is paying a R600 premium to vadacom if I cannot get any value from it.

The only thing to figure out now is how to get out early form my Vodacom contract. I have 6 months left on my 24Month contract. Pitty, as Vodacom 3G used to work perfect untill March 2006, and it do not seem to get fixed.
