I did. Phone blacklisted. When I went to report this, the lady that helped me said it happens quite often.![]()
I trust that your ability to upgrade has not been influenced by this, since it is fraud? Didn't you get SMS's and such informing you about your delivery of the handset and so forth? God, this freaks me out, cause I can't believe there are no systems in place to stop this kind of cr*p from happening. I think at the end of Jan when my contract expires I'll be skipping over to Vodacom or such.
Got an SMS saying my upgrade was successful. After further investigation I discovered it was a walk-in case. Someone walked into a store, and left with a new phone and me with a big bill! It was all cancelled and undone the next day. I even saw on their computer screens who it was and which store. Hopefully MTN sorted it out internally.
I feel very vulnerable after this incident - its the only debit order I have left. I've gone EFT with everything else. At least no surprises or an empty bank account at the end of the month.
Just waiting for my data contract to end then I am going prepaid...maybe even Telkom Mobile...no contracts, no upgrades, no fraud!
you just have to remember to pay on time or else outgoing services are suspended within 1-2 days.
What kind of phone do you have?Really annoying - my phone is not a mobile billboard ...
What kind of phone do you have?
MTN themselves seem to be using this technique to spam their prepaid customers - got about 10 of these one after the other tonight, telling me about how I can get nnnn airtime for nn if I dial *131#nnnn

Sorry to be the one to break it to you, but if your device is running Android, it is Google's mobile billboard.Mickey mouse Samsung GT-S5301
