Hey, we have the same problem here. But we get 10 million a year. Spanish is a second language now, and even the voter ballots are in both languages. This is insane stuff. The politicians all want the illegals to vote for them, so nobody guards the borders (except some American cowboys down in Arizona). They just sit there and look across the border; keeps some of em out at least. Why don't we insist the other countries take care of their own so we don't have to support them? Here in America, you get a better education and free healthcare if you are an illegal. Next time I get in trouble, I'm going to speak Spanish and see if I can get out of it.

Agreed, but it is easier to absorb that many illegal immigrants into a country the size if the US (300,000,000) than it is for SA. Getting 10,000,000 illegals into SA in a mere 10+ years is crazy.

Are there any stats relating to the high crime rate in this country as regards more crime commited by immigrants or locals, especially regards gun related crime, and organised military style armed robberies and shooting?
It makes sense in some ways that many of these immigrants would be para-military trained types with easy access to guns, and have fewer qualms about using violence as a means to an end , considering they have nothing to lose, but everything to gain.
Then again maybe the government would not release those sort of figures, fearing the posibility of precisely whats being happening to the Somali population but on a much brader nationwide level?

In short, no. The Insurance industry only records claims by citizens and legal residents, for example. The state actually has no idea how many illegal immigrants there are. There are many foreigners in our prisons awaiting trial, but these statistics are not released to the public either. We also have several hundred foreign drug mules in SA prisons. Generally, in the townships we have found that crime involving foreigners goes mostly unreported, as township dwellers live in fear of retaliation, or they hide from police as their own residency status is of questionable accord. By and large the communities are generally uncooperative with police in most cases.

Here is the bottom line, for aslong as there are first and second world countries, there will be people trying to get from one into the other, Its in our best interest take ensure the welfare of the countries around us so that we dont face this problem, If we had of put our foot down on mugabe, we wouldnt be facing this issue.
