This COO sure seems not to know much about power generation. Or accepting BS from his subordinates.Oberholzer
From Jan 1 2021 to end April 2021 - 29 days of load shedding
From Jan 1 2022 to end April 2022 - 25 says of load shedding- four less than last year, but it is worrying that there were four days of Stage 4 load shedding.
We have to be ready for demand coming.
All six units of Medupi are in operation. There was an own goal with an explosion at one unit at Medupi.
At Kusile - only 3 of 6 are in commercial operation.
Because of the lack of time with Medupi and Kusile - there were design defects.
@Gaz{M} - thought you might be interested re Kusile. So there is a fair whack of new capacity due to come online due to the extraordinary delays.

Total demand: 31 762MW
Loadshedding: 2100MW
Interruptible Load Supply: 447MW
Virtual PowerStation: 223MW
Eskom OCGT's Utilised: 14
IPP OCGT's:2
Ren Gen: 477MW(Wind 189MW, CSP 252MW, PV 36MW)
@Eskom_SA Available Generation Capacity: 28 990MW
Guess they want to differentiate CSP to direct PV. CSP is solar but different in that it doesn't use solar panels but mirrors.Wow, that's super high demand...but also expected given that it's winter now. I see PV has made an appearance in the renewable energy space. I thought CSP was solar as well?
I even forgot we are supposed to be loadshedding, not affected since it was announced yesterday.Didn't get shed tonight- was supposed to between 18h00-20h30. COCT.
its Africa baby, they are winning at everything they do, Bribes and corruption and sabotage and nepotism at every turn ,This COO sure seems not to know much about power generation. Or accepting BS from his subordinates.
How can 6 units be in operation at Medupi when they blew one up? What does he mean? And about the defects? It's a load of crock. The design defects aren't regular defects, they're shortcuts contractors took to profit from the chaos and tried to pad profits by using substandard materials and general shoddy work. Seems Eskom QA and engineering were either incompetent or bribed to overlook said defects. Basics like NDT don't seem to have been performed. Acceptance tests neither given the state of their systems at those power stations.

schedules, that's just a western concept that has no meaning,Same thing happened to me last night. In Morningside Sandton. Supposed to be load shedded between 22h00 and 00h30 last night. It never went off. Hope they didn't screw up the schedules.

we loadshed when we want, and you just got to live with it pleb, and remember to vote ANC, as they done such a fantastic job so far.
the so called schedules are an absolute joke, I've never been able to figure out what "block" or "time" is set for my area,I've had times where they seemed to forget to switch off and it would go off sometimes 30 or 40 mins later. This is the first time that it was completely skipped.
Tuesday night also had same time schedule. Went off at 22h17 instead of 22h00 on that day.
They would need 6 more on the Eskom sideEvening Peak Feedback 05/05/2022, 18:15

Getting close to maximum amount of OCGT's requires to meet the peak demand
Daughter's power has been off since Wednesday. Still not restored... (Bryanston north area)Jo'burg north-east suburbs (Block 9) had a 5 hour failure yesterday, first 2 hours were normal LS.
Doubt they'll let us off today though..
Why would they let you off? They don't let anyone off, I've seen areas been off for 34 hours and power came back for 5 and load shedding.Jo'burg north-east suburbs (Block 9) had a 5 hour failure yesterday, first 2 hours were normal LS.

We haven't had load shedding for a single slot all week...Why would they let you off? They don't let anyone off, I've seen areas been off for 34 hours and power came back for 5 and load shedding.
