Hi all,

So I'm due for an upgrade apparently.
So tonight I go and visit Canal Walk upstairs branch of Vodacom and chat to one of the sales guys.
He blabbers on about some stuff but basically I tell him that I want the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) and I want to try change my contract to be more "Data orientated" and he tells me I will be paying R699 for this contract, R799 for that package and I'm like... HUH? If I goto www.vodacom.co.za and check the shopping site - well, eventually I go and show him on his laptop and end up on this page:

So in this image, I want the "bottom" (next level) package - less min, more data.

He then looks at an excel document and nods in agreement - goes in the back, comes back and tells me the only bad news is that they only have the GOLD and not the BLACK (which I want) so he tells me the downstairs Vodacom shop should have it and I can get my upgrade there.

I take a walk downstairs, and chat to a consultant there - he tells me, I can't get that package because I'm over 25 and that package is aimed at under 25's and also, he can't give it to me - I want it, I must get it via the web site.

I got the vibe from both places that they just want to push you to upgrade to HIGHER packages and when I told them I want to keep it LOW you could feel the interest in my upgrade vanish on their parts.

I'm honestly like... WTF?!?
My GF just laughed and we left.

Completely different stories eh.

Comments, thoughts, advice?

He is correct. You have to be below that age.

Really? Going to be applying for it this/next weekend, does the account holder have to be under 25 or the person using it?

So Ockie, why did the one shop want to give it to me but the other didn't?
And why the "age" requirement for a contract?!?

I dont know. I dont work there. Did not pay attention to the memo when it was released. Who knows.

It is aimed at a certain market. That is part of the T&C's. - Use the spreadsheet I post every month. That is why I post it, for you guys to make informed decisions.

Why not just use your old phone and go prepaid? Cheaper and so much more options for data

That R10000 educational voucher that gets put with some of the deals, can it be replaced with something else?

Okes, I'd like to get the A7 (2017)

The fact that Vodacom firstly excludes me based on AGE and because I work in COMMUNITY SERVICE - I mean come on, EMS uses alot of DATA etc - I probably do more DATA / Social media that most under 25's - it's rather pathetic to be honest.

Why not get the telkom freeme deal op?

Because I'd never goto Telkom dude. Never EVER! Like I'd never goto MTN.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCES - not once, not twice - MORE.
I've been with Vodacom for YONKS - I think 10+ years!
