Upgraded to 10 Meg apparantly - Dissapointed

Hi Guys,

Im with cybersmart, and requested an upgrade from 384 to 4meg and when the process was complete they said I was upgraded to a 10240 (10 Meg) line.

Im dissapointed that my line is only syncing at about 2 meg. My 384 was strong though downloading at 41kbps.

Below are my router stats:

Any advice on how I can improve this?
I tried with 2 routers and same results.

Im soz Agent Weed, your line attenuation is too high to support full 10MB. My line attenuation is 45db down and I think I can only sync at 6.5MB.

This is why people need to push for UMC's.

Im fighting a 2 year battle with Telkom to put in a UMC in for our suburb. They put the fibre in and told us its part of a upgrade but then stopped.

That 6.1 is a problem they need to get that up to at least 12...may have noise on the line ?? wish they would get mine up to 10

I would be happy if I could atleast get a downrate of 4000 or 3500, anything I can do to improve the SNR and line attenuation?
Or is it best to get a telkom tech to come check it out?

Hmm, I think once Telkom release the 8/10Mb service you might get them to do something about your line, seeing as 2Mb is a bit too slow for even them to be happy with.

I was booted up to 10Mb last week. The line was on and off on and off. I called Telkom and demanded to be put back on 4Mb. Now all my problems are resolved!
