Upgrading to 1mbit(upto 4mbit)

Heya folks.

Guy at telkom sayd upgrading from 512K to 1mbit(upto 4mbit) would take 6-8weeks.??

Also sayd somethin' about i must fill out a application form. (although i told him i already got a ADSL line installed).

Yea you will have to phone telkom and then apply. If u on contract you will be sent a new form that you will need to fill out and send back.
If you not on contract u can do it over the phone.

I did both and it took 3 working days for each.

Ps it might be our telkom tech thats just fast

I'm not on telkom contract.. but they told me about a form and stuff that i need to apply for, and also a 6-8weeks waiting period for the upgrade to take place in . lol

Thats huge.. Since i only waited 8days to get my DSL line installed

that has to be wrong. i upgraded from 512 to 1mb last week thursday. phoned 10219 and did it over the phone. didn't need to fax/sign anything.

about an hour later, i did a few speedtests (telkom and iburst) and my connection had been upgraded.

Got to agree with HillBilly - that sounds way off - call again.

I applied for 4mbit, They told me it would take 24hours +-.

I got a call about 1hour later, from telkom telling me that my line or exchange doesn't support upto 4mbit. (only 512K) hmmmm

and its gonna take 4-6weeks to get it done. (although i'm less than 2km from the exchange) I know where it is..
