Uploads kill connection speed

In a startling discovery today I noticed when uploading to an ftp site, my downloads would basically halt at 500bytes/s. Kill the upload, and downloads go back to the usual 7-12KB/s

Sentech needs to seriously fix their network soon. If I could get ADSL here, I'd switch without blinking an eye. Even the 3GB cap is better than this.

Who mentioned something about ADSL to Fiber exchanges? Cause that's the reason I can't get it atm.....

I'm experiencing the same nonroker... On the 128k connection uploading to a local ftp location at a (wait for it) full 1KB/s and all other traffic basically comes to a complete standstill...

Its basically when uploading and trying to do anything down the stream which is taxing.

When downloading and Uploading anything at the same time what you want to do is wait,

in our cases wait some more,
go make coffee,
go buy some smokes,
make the second cup,
go get KFC at lucnh hour for a longer wait

come back and then tell everyone else who is waiting for the connection that they can now download email.

I have been on Sentech about this forever..... Nothing new about this what I have been told

DO a speed test,
Your speed is normal for your package,
Your network is not supported,
Its your network causing the problem,
What frequency do you connect at, it might be because of a bad signal.

Calling Sentech direct doesnt deliver much either on a fix and same for NoWire. The problem still exists.

0861 NoWire – Charged at National Rates for your convenience open from 8am to 5pm keep your problem only during office hours ONLY.

were going to assume sentech did not make this change on purpose.
one interesting theory, is although the line/medium is full duplex and should be capable of 128 up/128 down simultaneously
When maxing out in one direction, packetloss on myslowness goes to 50%, and equalizes both halves.

Alright, it lasted 2 days, but right now, I'm back to 14 down, 10 up YaY!!!

It wasn't an issue in the beginning. I remember uploading at 30KB/s while downloading at 30KB/s, now I can barely get 10KB/s down and when I upload at 2KB/s downloads die.

I'm sick of struggling with this "broadband" connection. I've ordered ADSL 384K, and if I can get it on my exchange, I'm cancelling my Sentech contract.
