Hi, so recently ive been using this for my fibre setup https://www.takealot.com/rct-1000va-line-interactive-ups/PLID32714411
for the passed 6 months but due to the constant loadshedding they battery has decided it couldnt take it anymore so i returned it and got my refund.

Now im looking for a decent long lasting solution that i can run my Fibre setup, alarm and perhaps a 55 inch smart tv on ( not needed but curious) for stage 4 (4 hours)

I have no idea where to start or what to look at. I would really appreciate everyone's feedback, advice and suggestions!

Those batteries will never last no matter what small load.

Will this work?

I've got one of these but the stupid router's dc thingy is a smaller size. No idea where to get a converter/adapter or whatever. So if anybody knows...

Paid R700 at communica
They also have adapters

Messy cables though...
It's the black barrel power cable coming from its, very short but works

It's behind my TV, hence the poor shot, hope it helps

When was this, I was there yesterday they have stock of literally nothing (economy must be rough when suppliers can't order sufficient stock - talking raspberry ardiunos and IoT stuff.).

Nice toilet roll cable management lol, I also do that hehe.

Most people think UPS (uninterrupted power supply) = Inverter. Whilst true in the technical sense, the way they are marketed leads people into loads of trouble.

From marketing parlance, UPS = something that keeps things running when the power is down. Whilst true, it is only for 30 odd minutes, giving you enough time to properly shut down your PC.

Inverter, which is also a UPS, is different because it can keep you going almost indefinitely depending on battery bank.

All inverters are UPS (basically) but not all UPS are inverters. Keep that in mind.

Your R2000-R4000 UPS is probably not an inverter in the sense you expect it to be, although it technically also satisfies that demand by taking 12/24/48VDC to 220AC.

Your RCT UPS from Takealot has an inverter in it, it's how you get AC instead of 12-24V DC. But it's not a terribly high quality one, as you mention the idea is to allow you to save your work and shut down cleanly in the event of a power out.

A dedicated inverter unit is typically of a higher quality and more efficient but it doesn't come with a built in battery. You need to buy those separately.

That being said, you do get industrial UPS units the size of fridges or bigger which have very high quality inverters in them and can probably keep your DSTV on for days... But also cost an industrial sized amount.

With the stock issues people should really consider buying the components and assembling, it's not that hard, everything is labeled.
