We have had a Miele, 2 Hoover’s and one of those Bissel PoS in the past 12 years. Now we have a Dyson and can not recommend it enough.
Miele - expensive but probably bestest and robustest!

Sorry but would not touch a Dyson with an extended vacuum pipe ;)

We bought a Dyson V8 over Christmas, so far so good...
Hopefully it doesn't give in, since it cost an arm an a testicle.

Let me guess, sums wasn’t your best subject at school?
When I was at school we could still cope with multisyllabic words, so we called it "Mathematics". And unless something fundamental has changed in the meantime, the difference between 1299 and 1699 and between 1200 and 1600 is 400 either way.

Good thing you pointed it out, that's a R400 difference instead of a R400 diff....... oh.....
Embarrassing yourself.

Respectively (or each) means the difference between R1299 and R1200 is R99. Same with R1699 and R1600.

I returned two Dyson V8's to Takealot. The battery life was completely dismal as opposed to stated life.

How is yours going?

mine is great. V8 absolute. 80% tile, 20% carpet, swopping out heads. Never run out of power doing the house in a single go, about 170m2. Used for about 9 months I guess

Only occasionally use max power and that is normally when using the crevice tools.

Willing to sponsor OP the difference between his budget and your suggestion?
