Aren't bombers kinda slow and vulnerable to ground-to-air missiles ?
Slow from the ground sure. At their actual speed at bombing height nowadays? Fast as faaaaaaaaaaa

Only proper ground-to-air missiles, you aren't going to takeout any of the major bombers with a stinger.

Researchers at Clemson University's Media Forensics Hub and ProPublica identified more than a dozen videos that purport to debunk apparently nonexistent Ukrainian fakes. The videos have racked up more than 1 million views across pro-Russian channels on the messaging app Telegram, and have garnered thousands of likes and retweets on Twitter. A screenshot from one of the fake debunking videos was broadcast on Russian state TV, while another was spread by an official Russian government Twitter account.

The goal of the videos is to inject a sense of doubt among Russian-language audiences as they encounter real images of wrecked Russian military vehicles and the destruction caused by missile and artillery strikes in Ukraine, according to Patrick Warren, an associate professor at Clemson who co-leads the Media Forensics Hub. "The reason that it's so effective is because you don't actually have to convince someone that it's true. It's sufficient to make people uncertain as to what they should trust," said Warren, who has conducted extensive research into Russian internet trolling and disinformation campaigns. "In a sense they are convincing the viewer that it would be possible for a Ukrainian propaganda bureau to do this sort of thing."
Telegram again. Lol... That chat app has been a huge success for Russian propaganda efforts.

Nuclear delivery capable bombers flying sorties next to NATO. It's not a good idea. NATO may just shoot a few of them down because it's a security risk.

War-time propaganda is nothing new.

Do you really think 300 Spartans stood against 1 million+ Persians?

I was also interested to know so did some digging a while ago. The numbers are exaggerated. Even in the movie the Spartans were backed up by about 3000 troops from other regions. Also Leonidas forced Xerxes to fight along a narrow coastline which gave them an edge (lol). From what I have gathered the waterline here ran a lot higher up but due to coastlines altering the beach is now much further away and so Xerxes was forced to fight in a narrow strip between the coastline and the cliffs. Xerxes did not have a million more like 10000 give or take? The Spartans also narrowed it even further by building obstacles like stone walls to split Xerxes' army up.

Yes it's a movie. And no Xerxes did not have pierced nipples either.

Russia is like a cat playing with mice - a tap here, a flick there. If it really wants to get serious, it just has to use bombers.

This short doccie on one of the US's own ultra bomber programs go into why the very notion was already discarded by the time development of the plane finished.
In the end ICBMs are just cheaper and more effective.
Modern surface to air defences present a very real threat for very expensive hardware.
The US has stealth bombers, but even they are not assured safety these days. Russia has no stealth bombers.

So let me get this right, anyone who fights for Russia is a combatant, anyone who fights for Ukraine is a mercenary ?

Well in a sense the foreign legion for ukraine is like a volunteer mercenary group, and there seems to be quite a few retired soldiers (from the west) volunteering and joining up, so in a narrow sense it's half correct.

IT was still quite an epic battle. Supposed to be the largest gathering of troops in recorded history up to that point.

But are they all getting paid to fight ?

Ukraine only have stingers and can only hit low flying aircraft.

NATO still wouldn't do it, even if it violated Ukraine airspace. They would however get anti-aircraft into position, just like they are doing with all the current "Training" operations for NATO. They are busy all over-preparing and all on standby. The French have made a large play currently.

NATO would also not fire on a plane, not over a current NATO territory that poses a significant threat. That would just confirm that NATO is now involved and it would trigger a response in a head-on collision of NATO vs Russia.

I think many people misunderstand NATO, they are a giant deterrent more than an actual response team. They will not be the ones to ever start the conflict or war. That is why there is such a slow process to helping Ukraine because any direct conflict between the countries of NATO and Russia will trigger many articles like article 5.

Is it a mercenary group if some are fighting for free?

DING DING, even the old B52 bombers wouldn't get taken out by a Stinger. You need a proper surface to air missile and multiple due to the flair system and safety nets these things have.
