Do you know what the Geneva Conventions of 1949 are, which explicitly added civilian protections because of the brutality of WW2.
I think armed resistance will inevitably happen if you have a foreign invader/occupier that the civilian population detests, However, as long as the regular Ukrainian army is still fighting I think that civilians getting involved in the fighting is not that productive. All of that will change if the Ukrainian army falls, then I think you will see far more of an insurgency from civilians.

Then don't be surprised when a sht ton more civilians are killed. People seem to forget that a lot of the resistance movements during WW2, also distinguished themselves with arm bands and ribbons.

It wasn't a complete free for all like @Lupus seems to think. It's almost like they didn't want to get shot themselves.

I agree with that, any resistance should be organized like the French resistance was, am not in favor of a free for all.

So this happened after Ukraine was invaded by Russia in the last week? My question related to any action by Ukraine against Russia before this war started...
For that I have nothing except a false flag Russian operation.

Value of SA trade with USA in 2019 - $13.2 Billion.

Value of SA trade with Russia in 2019 - $1.1 Billion

Tell me more about how economically damaging it would be for SA to condemn Russia.
When did Russia invade the US? What's our trade with Ukraine like?

Yup cause wearing an armband to announce you're resistance is a good way to end up getting shot. Why do you think the Germans did round up civilians and hung them? As there were resistance movement members in the normal civilian population.
So yes sometimes they wore armbands

I reckon there are going to be some high level "disappearances" soon. You could practically see his Spy boss crapping his pants in the meeting just before the invasion...

That was quite an uncomfortable exchange. Sergei definitely should've worn brown pants.

When was that? MyBB experts have said Putin has lost the plot and is clearly insane

We should see clips of him frothing at the mouth soon

You could almost see Sergei's thoughts. "Sergei you idiot! Why did not you listen to your mama and become a lawyer or doctor? This man knows where your family and even your pets live..."

Depends on what they were doing.

If they were attempting to directly confront German occupiers in street battles, they may have worn an armband, but for the most part you 100% would not want to identify yourselves for very obvious reasons. The Germans tended to be heavy-handed with partisans/resistance fighters.

The maquis were clandestine groups which did not wear uniforms, so as to blend in the population. However, over time many started wearing the Basque beret because it was common enough not to arouse suspicion but distinctive enough to be effective.

The whole point of civilian resistance is to blend in. Occupiers lower their guard and allow you to get close(r). Young women also featured very prominently in resistance movements, again for obvious reasons. Pretty young lady walks up to you, flirts, and boom, you're dead.

But yes, civilians take great risks when doing this and endanger other civilians.

I don't get your and @TheNihilist argument?

Civilians can help but not necessarily on the frontline?
How do you effectively fight tanks, jets, trained military (including snipers) with what you have at home?
Keeping in mind that once you start this Russia will see the locals as a threat and act accordingly.

They don't care.

They saw Twitter post of old ladies making molotov cocktails and it was emotional and inspiring.

So now they are running with it. Without a second thought because there is no thought only emotion.

If you try and burst their bubble you are a Russian bot.

Resistance movements during most wars are civilians, they are drawn into the conflict as they are there on the ground. It's happened during almost every single war that there are resistances fighting against things like tanks, jets and and and. I mean have you ever opened a history book?
No one advocates it, but it will more then likely happen, those that want or can leave do leave, those that can't or don't want to end up fighting. Welcome to the human mindset.
